ESPN collectively predicts Cavs for 2nd last in East, locals more optimistic
October 24, 2010Browns Shock the Saints 30-17
October 24, 2010The Browns head down to Bourbon Street in search of their second win of the season. All they have to do to get it is beat the defending Super Bowl Champs, led by Drew Brees, with a rookie QB making the second start of his career.
That first start last week left a lot of people encouraged by the prospects of that rookie QB though, including Mike Holmgren. The Browns czar offered the following on Colt McCoy heading into today’s match-up:
“I was very proud of him Sunday and I told him that,” said Holmgren, arguably the top quarterback expert in the NFL. “No one knew what he could do, and the feeling going into that game was ‘oh boy.’ The truth is, that was a heck of a game for a while. I was very, very pleased with how he played.”
Here we go Brownies…

I’m suprised more guys don’t get laid out on the sidelines more often.
LETS MAKE SOME OFFENSE!
Question…..do we get to accept the penalty once this is reviewed? We should….just wondering if it’s a one-time option to accept/decline.
If that’s down by contact, than it should be tripping right? He took him down by his foot
@54….I was thinking the same thing as well hahah i guess either way we get our first down.
Hillis to McCoy!
Are u kidding me… When did the Browns hire Jerry Glanville?
For the first time in 2 seasons Daboll has impressed.
I have to say this is my personal favorite Browns performance since…Jesus, I have no clue but this is great
PICK SIXXXXX!!! Again… that was the game. Sweet!
BOWENS!!!!!!
BOWENS X 2!
…Unbelievable…
Wow, just wow.
There are some very very very unhappy bookies in the world today.
That graphic made me laugh.
D Bowens: 12
New Orleans: 10
HAHAHAHAHHAAHHHHHHHH! WOOT!
FxCK I SHOULDA BET ON THIS!
Brownies knock off 3 SB champs in 3 years… Who dey gonna beat dem Browns!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Got to give the coaches a big pat on the back here.
Remember when Bowens wasn’t supposed to even make the team in training camp?
Giants 2008 – Steelers 2009 – Saints 2010. The trend of knocking off Super Bowl winners continues. Well spotted by eldaveablo.
Might as well start it now…..I know Colt didn’t really do anything of note (game manager might I say), but who starts at QB after the bye? I’m sure there will be speculation, CAPZ RANTZ, and multiple posts in the next two weeks, but has Colt done anything to prove the he ISN’T capable of at least keeping us competitive the rest of the season….this way we have an answer to the question of whether we need to draft a QB next year or not.
@69 I was just thinking the same thing…
This is the kind of gameplan I’ve been begging for from the Brownies! Keep ’em guessing guys!
the thing is we have no receiving on this team. its very hard to judge mccoy on that.
Why don’t they do this every week?
And we lost every category except penalties, turnovers and final score.
@76: and turnovers, which turned out to be crucial.
@historycat – and that’s how this team is built to win. We can’t out offense anyone so we have to win this way. I’ll take it!
WOW! Unbelievable!
That was fun to watch. I mean truly fun to watch. Great work today by the browns, and Congratulations to this coaching staff. They deserve the most credit for this.
I’ve been BEGGING them to try some trick plays on offense and special teams! Thank God they took some chances and did it!!! I know it is cliched but they played to win today with those 2 HUGE special teams plays. I’m very, very proud of them. Go Browns!!!!
Oh, and we out rushed them…
ESPN has yet to put up a single story or reference to the game…
The Browns could be the ONLY team not to turn over the ball tody…lets see how tonight pans out…
I’m sad that I dropped the Browns’ D this week (though the Chiefs did OK) in both of my fantasy leagues…!!
Ironically, didn’t Brees name his kid Bowen?
Ezzie – yes, he did.
