Buckeye 12 Pack- Minnesota Edition
November 3, 2010Sports, Politics and Kevin Garnett
November 3, 2010For the first time in roughly two seasons, Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson is finally getting noticed for his play on the court. Heading into Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, Gibson was one of three players in the NBA who was leading his team in scoring despite not being a member of the starting five.
But while he is turning out nights of 20 points and seven assists, some fans are wondering exactly what happened to the hair designs which Gibson has been notorious for throughout his career. Thankfully, WFNY was able to catch up with Gibson to ask him just that, and the answer we received was to “stay tuned.”
Much to the chagrin of Bomani Jones, Gibson – one of the team’s biggest users of the microblogging platform Twitter – plans to let the fans of the Wine and Gold decide exactly what his New Expression will be. Deeming it a “Tweetstakes,” fans should not only be following Gibson on Twitter, but should keep a close eye as one of the team’s biggest benefactors of the addition of Byron Scott as head coach will be letting the fans have a vote as to the future of his uppermost personal real estate.
Will he go back to the star? Opt for the state of Texas? Or will it be something new? One way or another, it appears that The Decision will be up to Cavalier fans.
Someone better make sure that “Milano” Franklin, Gibson’s barber, is oiling up his clippers.

good idea for Gibson to involve the fans.
he’s been overall a pleasant surprise this season, but he sure didn’t play well down the stretch last night. bad fouls on the perimeter, missed a critical 3, and just didn’t seem comfortable at all in the 4th quarter. hopefuly, he rebounds from that poor end.
“hopefuly, he rebounds from that poor end.”
Shot was off, for sure. Thankfully, he was hitting the boards hard – finished with seven of them. It’s definitely going to be tough on nights when the opposing SG is of Joe Johnson’s size.

(Jim Brown this a.m., now this -maybe the inevitable result of trying to fill a daily sports blog when we’re down to one team people care much about)
You know what Scott, please delete my last. You’re working hard and did nothing to deserve that unprovoked bile. Sorry.
The hair designs are dumb… but I would have to say asking about them and blogging are worse! You’re better than that Scott!
Great comment #3!
@Scott – that is true. the missed 3 around the 3minute mark just really seemed to take the wind from the sails on offense, which is why I mentioned it. I was more upset with the reach-in fouls outside the 3pt line down the stretch.
also, I railed on Hickson in the other thread at not being a better defensive rebounder, but, to be fair, at least half of Gibson rebounds were direct tips from Hickson.

@PGP – if the hair designs are dumb, and asking/blogging about them are worse, what is commenting about how dumb they are?
Maybe he stopped doing them because he realised he looked like an idiot.
I was happy Gibson ditched the hair design crap I’m sorry to hear it might be returning. I always thought it was strange to call attention to yourself when you either rode the bench or frankly didn’t play all that well.
My question is…
What happened to Mo’s headband?
@boogey – why are you sorry to hear that they are returning then if he is not riding the bench and has played fairly well so far this season?
@MattyFos – I imagine Mo, like many Northcoasters, has decided to break any and all remaining links to last year’s #23

Hence the “offbeat”
“the missed 3 around the 3minute mark just really seemed to take the wind from the sails on offense”
Eye of the beholder, but I think the rushed AP jumper around the same timeframe did them in.
“What happened to Mo’s headband?”
Will find out.
@10 I always thought the hair designs were childish to start but if he’s playing well now why change anything? Especially something that makes me think of him riding the pine or just jacking up 3s. Like I said before though I’m just not a fan of Gibson. I don’t like that it took this long for him to do something other then stand at the three point line and wait for a pass.
Calvin peeing on the #23?
Booby should get his shaved and polished before they play the Celtics next. Maybe Garnett will say something stupid that gets him T-ed up or ejected
Scott-
I love how you’re going to do some investigative journalism on Mo’s headband situation… EAT THAT ESPN!! We don’t care about Randy Moss getting waived, or KG being politically incorrect. We care about why Mo stopped wearing the headband!
WFNY- Just raised MattyFos’ admiration level for the site.
