South Park Spoofs LeBron, Asks ‘What Should I Do?’

In the world of pop culture, perhaps no source of entertainment better has their finger on the pulse than South Park. The longtime animated series on Comedy Central is certainly no stranger to taking on more serious issues of the day from religion to politics to disasters, but they also aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and roll around in the mud.

In last night’s episode, it was LeBron James’ turn to feel the wrath of Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s spot on sense of parody. Although the spoof does contain some inside jokes from the previous couple of episodes, the overall point of it comes through.

I’ll say this much, if you believe that any publicity is good publicity, then LeBron’s summer has raised his visibility to unseen heights. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t recall South Park taking their shots at LeBron before all this. It’s up to you to decide whether this is all a good thing for LeBron or not.

Southpark doesn’t always hit its mark, but this 2-parter has been especially hilarious.

    /standing ovation

Well done, South Park. Well done.

  • oribiasi

Thank God Trey and Matt are on our side in this disaster. F LBJ.

  • Roosevelt

Luckily, unlike Anthony Tolliver, South Park will not be facing Lebron this season. So we can avoid a bunch of panicked apologies too.

  • mgbode

I think Matt and Trey were giddy when ‘the decision’ came out as they knew they’d have a couple easy episodes to write. then, the commercial comes out and they had to call up Nike and tell them to make it harder for them next time :)

Sorry Matty, I now live in pittsburgh and can’t bring myself to mutter that dbag’s name either, or let me wife wear the jersey anymore (we have a rivalry marriage).

  • Karsten

We don’t mention him ’round these parts no more.

It’s worse than saying Voldemort! :-O

  • KTEAR

solidifies south park as one of my favorite shows… the ending is too eerily like the LeBron situation

Should I go back to my old team? No. We don’t want you

  • saggy

Holy crap! that was awesome! Hilarious.

  • Stinkfist

Honestly, for a bunch of stoners, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are very intelligent. As Andrew hit on, they are incredibly witty and have no fear attacking sensitive subjects (other than the time they were given death threats from Islamic groups for planning to show Muhammad dressed up in a big purple bear costume, but thats it). God I love that show

Oh ya, Cleveland sports site… uh… uh… JJ Hickson

  • systemclash

@#20 That was Comedy Central that did the thing with the death threats. Those 2 episodes still aren’t up on southparkstudios.com because Trey and Matt want to air the episode the way they had it to start with

  • boogeyman

The last part made it worth watching! Every time I hear the start of that commercial I change the channel.

  • Jack

    HOT CLICKS!

    Holla, WFNY!

  • Stinkfist

21- well that makes them even more B.A.

  • SummitOmar

The best part is Comedy Central in the commercials before that part of the episode showed the actual Lebron commercial. I was rolling on the floor laughing so hard!

I never miss the show ( especially now that they’re into the new season). I was coming unglued when I figured out what they were doing with LeBron. My husband totally didn’t get it –he’s not much of a sports fan.
Maybe they’ll make LeBron their next Saddam Hussein -like character.
