November 5, 2010While we’re waiting is your morning link dump of WFNYish goodness from around the internets. It’s our way of saying “Hey other people write good stuff too.” Mostly it’s our way of distracting you until we wake up and start writing. If you see something you think we should share send it to tips@waitingfornextyear.com.
First Cowherd, now FanHouse giving some love to the Erie Warriors- “The Browns didn’t creep up and surprise the league like the Chiefs and Buccaneers. And they didn’t disappoint the football world like the Bengals and Cowboys. But the Browns (2-5) have shown their progress and hunger to win. Cleveland improved on their play in each game thus far and they are continuing to learn how to become a better squad.” [Barry Barnes/FanHouse]

Tough talk about TJ Ward, can’t say that I agree with the assessment here. “While Elam takes most of the blame (at least the portion not assigned to Eric Wright) for the Browns’ secondary woes, it’s worth noting that Ward has been mostly terrible in pass coverage. Part of the reason for Wright and Brown’s struggles in man coverage could be due to the fact that Ward is still pretty much lost regarding his pass coverage assignments.” [DK/Cleveland Reboot]

You can’t replace Club Trill. Just can’t- “After four years at OSU – four years in which he transformed from a walk-on to an Internet sensation - Titus graduated last spring, leaving a gaping hole at the end of the Buckeyes’ bench. But for both Titus and OSU, life must go on.” [Nick Otte/The Lantern]

Finally, a little more high comedy compliments of Braylon Edwards. Seriously man, just stop talking. [Gregg Rosenthal/Pro Football Talk]

Braylon Edwards: “Once a quarterback gets to a certain point, where his mistakes are far and few between . . .”
What a moron.
Braylon Edwards, his mistake as QB was throwing it to you.
Maybe it’s because Sanchez doesn’t like guys who played at Michigan. He obviously trying to make Braylon look bad.
I’m so glad that this guy is not our problem anymore…
For the Browns, Sunday will be the day that everyone looks at this team and says, “that was the game that turned it all around.”
Who’s coming with me!?!?!?
BE is the Lol-iest LOLReceiver in all of Lol-ville
I’m at the point where I honestly don’t even know what to say any longer about Braylon. Simply put.. wow.
But the Browns (2-5) have shown their progress and hunger to win. Cleveland improved on their play in each game thus far and they are continuing to learn how to become a better squad.
You know that and I know that. But does Holmgren know that? Or will we be implementing another new system for another new coach next year?
There was a pretty thorough analysis of how good T.J. Ward was in pass coverage against the Saints.

@7 – Myself (/LeBronned)
The truth is, I’m unsure. Why DO other teams sneak up on the league, turning things around overnight, while the Browns make slow but steady progress AT BEST, before moderate success and a sudden meltdown? I could have handled a terrible season on the heels of the 10-6 year, if we could get good again just as suddenly. Other teams get good suddenly, and bad slowly. We get mediocre slowly but surely, and then terrible overnight.
Roosevelt – the 2007 Browns WERE the team that snuck up and surprised the league by finishing 10-6. In 2008 it was the Dolphins, and last year it was Miami, and last year it was Cincinnati. A lot of times its due to a weak schedule and a lot of things falling into place at the right time. But, look at those teams in the following year(s) – back to underwhelming results. A quick turnaround followed by futility. I would rather be the team that more-steadily builds success by establishing a solid foundation than the flash-in-the-pan team that fizzles out in 1 year’s time.
Like it was yesterday, I remember the Giants pick coming-up and praying the Giants would trade us for him and we’d take Hakeem Nicks. Oh well… it’s still funny watching him continue his role as the ultimate dumb-a**.
