Good to hear Thomas say this. Perhaps a chance at returning the left tackle once his deal is up- “The players said they believe in what the Browns are doing, compared to a year ago. “When you’re sitting at 1-11, it’s hard to believe in anything,” Browns left tackle Joe Thomas said. “This year, we have five wins and we feel we’re a much better team that. We feel we should’ve won even more. I definitely think guys believe in themselves and the system more now.” [Greetham/Orange and Brown Report]

Breaking down the ‘other’ bowls- “Yup, it sure is a pity that 42% of the institutions don’t get the opportunity to be involved in this important part of the educational process, or to pay for the privilege to do so. It’s a shame that they won’t have the high character that comes after being associated with these classy and prestigious events.” [Buckeye Battle Cry]

Wow. You’ve been called out- “Wisconsin had 5,800 student tickets to sell. They went up for purchase on uwbadgers.com at 9 p.m. Sunday and were sold out by 9:20 p.m. The above students had the nerve to put their Rose Bowl tickets up for sale on Facebook Marketplace within two hours of tickets selling out. Face value was $150. Some were trying to get the tickets for more than $400 a pop.” [Badger Herald]

Speaking of tickets (nice segue huh?) It’s not too late to get a nice Christmas gift for the sports fan on your list. How about seats to see the Browns take on division rivals Pittsburgh and Baltimore? You wouldn’t want Steeler fans to get the seats now would you? WOULD YOU!!??

I believe the ebay seller may be a little outside his mind. Now if it was Darius Miles….
I definitely think the Browns players are buying in to the system more. It does help to have a higher quality of players on the field as well. As the old adage goes, winning solves everything.
This, from Darius Miles IMDB Bio page: “Darius LaVar Miles is one of the most physically gifted and tantalizing talents ever to grace the hardcourts of the National Basketball Association. He’s an opposing coach’s match up nightmare. Darius, at 6′ 9″, has the height of a frontcourt player, but the nimbleness and the ball handling ability of a player that’s much smaller.”
I doubt that’s been updated in the last decade.
I’m still holding out for a Potapenko jersey. I guess I would settle for a Langdon jersey though.
I know a guy that sported a baby blue and black D-Miles jersey in public less than 6 months ago. True story.
We were at a gym when he pulls off his sweatshirt…and there it was. I laughed so hard. I had to hand it to him. The guy found the jersey on ebay and paid at least $20 to $30 to buy it and have it shipped just for comedic effect. That’s dedication.
@2 – all of that is true about Darius Miles. They just left out the portion about him never realizing even 1% of that potential.
@3 – nothing says Cavalier basketball failed draft picks quite like DeJuan Wagner.
@4 – I would love to shake that guys hand. I still wear my black-n-blue Cavs shirt to play ball in. People don’t mess with you if you are willing to wear something that ugly out to the courts.
and booo to buckeyebattlecry. boooo. booo.
I love watching football. Bowl season + NFL playing games on Saturdays = almost ridiculous amounts of football being played at all times.
who doesn’t like watching football? all types of football. 50’s style triple-option attacks (gatech vs. air force) or all-out passing attacks (tulsa vs. hawaii). something for everyone throughout the season.
it’s like complaining you have too much candy on halloween or beer on new year’s. just enjoy it.
@Jay – the question Holmgren has to figure out is whether the “system” can get the team to a super bowl, or if it will just mire us in mediocrity (5-9 wins) in the near future.
