Over the last 24 hours, the Cleveland Indians have announced one-year deals with OF Shin-Soo Choo, SS Asdrubal Cabrera, LHP Rafael Perez and RHP Chris Perez.
Good news is that the team conveniently avoids arbitration with all of the involved parties. Bad news is that we may have to go through this again with a select few, namingly Choo.
Terms are not disclosed just yet, but these will undoubtedly be interesting to see what sort of value the team placed on the players in question. Stay tuned, kids.
(Update: Per Paul Hoynes, the terms are as follows: Choo: 1 yr, $3.975mm; C. Perez: 1 yr, $2.225mm; R. Perez: 1 yr, $1.33mm; Cabrera: 1 yr, $2.025mm. For what it’s worth, Jon had Choo pegged for $4.5mm on a one-year deal. So not only was he very close, but this means the Tribe got a bit of a deal. Great success! Kind of.)
