The trades that brought Baron Davis, Semeh Erden and Luke Harangody are not quite complete, as the players involved have to report to the team and take their physicals. They are expected to arrive Saturday.
It is possible that the trio could be in action, or at least active on Sunday against the 76ers.
The Cavaliers are already at work updating their website and presumably the arena for tonight’s match-up against the New York Knicks. Even though they won’t have video or photos of the newest members of the team, that won’t stop the Cavs in-game entertainment team from editing a new intro video for tonight’s tip-off that does not include Mo Williams, Jamario Moon and Leon Powe. Powe was waived in order to make room on the roster for the two players acquired in the Boston deal.
The newest Cavs, however, are listed on the team’s official roster. Luke Harangody will wear No. 44 for the Cavs - the same number at Notre Dame. With Boston, he went with No. 55.
Semeh Erden will wear No. 9, which was his number in Turkey. He wore #86 for the Celtics, allegedly due to that being the year of his birth.
Baron Davis is listed as No. 85. He has worn only two numbers in his career, No. 1 and No. 5. He wore No. 1 in New Orleans and for a while in LA. He wore o. 5 in Golden State and also in with the Clippers.
Of course, the Cavaliers already have a No. 1 in Daniel Gibson and a No. 5 in Ryan Hollins. He could have combined the two and picked 15 or 51. Jamario Moon was No. 15 of course, so perhaps that had something to do with his decision. We’ll be sure to ask him.
Hopefully on Sunday.
