Super Bowl Sunday Open Thread

I venture to say that Browns fans are unanimously rooting for one team today, and that team is the Green Bay Packers.  The Steelers, while already our historical rival, have a number of otherwise detestable characters and team traits.  Packers stars include the scion of Browns great Clay Matthews and Northern Ohio native Charles Woodson.

As a warm-up to the football game, Ohio State travels to “The Barn” in Minneapolis to face a ranked Golden Gophers squad.  Tip is set for 2 PM on ESPN.  Ohio State is kicking off a brutal two and a half week stretch of their schedule this afternoon.  It’s unlikely they escape with an undefeated record.  Minnesota has frontcourt bodies in Ralphie Sampson and Trevor Mbakwe, that could present some resistance for Jared Sullinger.

It’s a great day to pig out and watch sports and OSU will provide the nice appetizer before kickoff.  Leave your thoughts and predictions here as the afternoon and evening of games progress.

I’m from Cleveland & I’m rooting for Pittsburgh tonight. They are a model franchise. Ben will be one of the best ever after tonight’s win. Should be an awesome game. I wonder if the Browns will ever make the playoffs again ?

Can’t forget AJ Hawk either!!! GO PACK!!!

  • SlawDawg

Green Bay loves white linebackers…that’s why I’m pulling for em. Maybe Dan Patrick can host them on his show and remind them forty times that they’re white.

  • Shamrock

Pulling for the Pack but I can’t help shake the feeling the Steelers will rally for title #7. At least the Buckeyes stayed unbeaten.

Well… it’s just the coin toss and already the commercials are ticking me off.

    Yay Superbowl.

    @7.

I’ll tell you. I’m NEVER buying doritos again. Those were some creepy commercials.

Congrats Steelers. This second half has your name all over it. I am going to bed. I don’t need to see another Steelers victory. This sucks. Oh well, next year the Browns in the superbowl right? Sigh…

lol way to jump the gun da -Z-

  • subadai

I’m not gonna say I’m happy, but I’m most definitely relieved. Tens of thousands of bandwagon Steelers fans are going to sleep crying into their yellow napkins tonight in NEO.

Great game looked like the Packers were gonna blow it but Rodgers was huge. Well deserved. Watching this game makes the Browns look even further away from being in the same league. Good luck Mike Holmgren I hope you can bring some Green Bay success to Cleveland sooner then later.

Next year starts now! Let the march to Indianapolis begin. Go Browns!

  • EdgewaterJoe

Okay, I’ll say it: STEELERS LOSE! STEELERS LOSE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Now on to the collective bargaining agreement (gulp!) …

  • BuckeyeDawg

Dear Packers: Thank you for making the coming off season a little more tolerable.

  • TBuck

Did anyone else notice that they are calling the Superbowl the NFL Championchip all of a sudden. Looks like Cleveland just jumped ahead of the Steelers, cause we got 8 of those.

  • tsm

@1. Do you root for the rival to your high school and college teams? Good to see the front runners lose.
