Zydrunas to Return From Foot Infection
March 24, 2011TV Alert: More Sports and WFNY!
March 24, 2011As the Cleveland Indians gear up to head back north from the lovely confines of Goodyear, Arizona, the team announces its intentions to honor the late Bob Feller not just on opening day, but throughout the entire 2011 season.
The remembrance of Feller will begin on Friday, April 1 during the sold out home opener. A pregame ceremony – set to begin at approximately 2:30pm – will include a special video tribute, a banner presentation, a “silent” first pitch by Anne Feller, an No. 19 on the pitcher’s mound and all of the Cleveland Indians players wearing No. 19 jerseys during pregame introductions.
Through the course of the season, the Indians will also wear special uniform patches (displayed above) as well as a special No. 19 on their batting practice jerseys. During the July 4 celebration, a replica bronze statue will be given to all fans. Feller’s retired No. 19 which is located above the mezzanine in right field will now feature a black band above the number while special Feller-related signage will be placed outside of Gate C where the legendary Bob Feller statue is located.
And last, but certainly not least, Feller’s seat within the pressbox will be memorialized.
Gates will open at 1PM for the 3:05P first pitch, but all fans are encouraged to be in their seats before the Feller memorial begins.

It still seems odd not to have seen him around during spring training…
Looks like the Indians have a lot of nice tributes planned. He deserves that.
Is it true that MLB would only let the Tribe wear the #19 jerseys for warm ups and not in the game itself? If so, stupid, stupid, and stupid! I just don’t get these sports leagues sometimes. So caught up in preserving their rules that they miss the bigger picture.
Seems odder still not seeing Russell Branyan around during spring training.
(No disrespect to the Rapid One, just worried about getting my quota of Branyan jokes this season. He hasn’t yet been released from current contractual obligations and who really knows how Antonetti feels about Muscle. These are tense times, my friends).
any and all tributes to Bob Feller are a good idea. the Indians really can’t overdo it with them.

where can I buy a hat with that logo?
if anyone has any leverage into it:
it would be best to be an off-white hat with navy pinstripes and a navy bill (obviously with that logo on the front).
I would prefer a small ’48-style yellow Wahoo insignia on the back of the cap, but that wouldn’t be a deal-breaker.
Are you sure it will be the patch pictured here? I thought there were some copyright problems with this design.
did a little digging. getting a hat may be an issue as the Indians are licensing that silhouette from Photo File.
