Turns out Zydrunas Ilgauskas has a new role: landlord- “Because during halftime of that game Ilgauskas introduced new Knick forward Carmelo Anthony to the news that Big Z rents out a spacious New York City townhouse (that he purchased in 2006 for $6.95 million) for the totally do-able price of $37,500 a month. And Carmelo, after being uprooted from Denver after playing in that city for 7 1/2 years, is considering turning Big Z into the Big Landlord.” [Dwyer/Ball Don’t Lie]

Sully in a slump?- “Aside from Purdue, a game which OSU lost, Sully’s last 5 games have not looked like his best, and when Wisconsin comes in to town, don’t be surprised if it is mentioned once or twice in the telecast. Still, what I want to do today is to show that, more than opponents trying to eliminate him from the game by playing “Slap A Sully” or triple teaming him, other external factors have led to these supposed “sub-par” games, and maybe they aren’t that sub-par at all.” [Johnny/Eleven Warriors]

Looking ahead to the NBA draft- “Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Let’s say the Cavs get the Clippers pick in exactly where it sits. Bummer, right? Not at all. With the #8 pick the Cavs could be looking eye-to-eye with the likes of Terrence Jones, Harrison Barnes, or Kawhi Leonard. I believe Jones likely won’t drop to #8, but it seems there will be a real chance of landing Barnes or Leonard. To me, Barnes would be the ideal player to grab at #8. He has a great NBA-ready body, and a ton of room to grow. In this “weak” draft, he continues to be one of the players with real star power.” [Only in Cleveland]

Three who took a big step back at the combine- “A 6-4, 267-pound defensive end out of Purdue, Kerrigan seemed to test pretty well since his 4.71 40-yard dash tied for seventh at the position and his 33.5-inch vertical jump tied for ninth, but you have to take into account the fact that he ran drills with the linebackers and not the defensive linemen — the former Boilermaker believes he’s going to be an outside linebacker in the 3-4 at the next level. When you compare his numbers to the linebackers in Indianapolis, all of a sudden his 40 time drops from tied for seventh to 13th and his vertical jump falls from tied for ninth to tied for 11th, and then his three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle finished outside the top 15 at either spot. Even if he looked just fine in attack mode, he struggled in space and may not be athletic enough to play any sort of Clay Matthews role.” [Crist/Scout]

If we can draft Barnes with our 2nd pick, go right ahead. I don’t care if he hasn’t lived up to the hype yet. There’s a reason he was a pre-season All American, let’s draft him and hope it comes to fruition for us.
The Cavaliers dont have to “reach” for guys not with two potential top 10 picks. What they do next draft will determine the future of the franchise. These two picks can’t be anything but homeruns IMO. Im excited for March Madness to see alot of these kids play.
This is few days too late, but Kerrigan is not an outside linebacker. He is a pass-rushing machine and needs to stay on the line. He will not pan out as a linebacker. I don’t think he has ever played any sort of coverage, and just showed that he isnt quite athletic enough to make up for his lack of experience in that area. Dude, stay at DE and maybe get picked up early in the second (Browns?).
