LeBron: Cavs Teammates “Died in Moment”
May 27, 2011Football is King in Ohio, but is Ohio King of Football?
May 27, 2011Back in May, 2008, we featured a little series called “Re-Sign or Release” where we went through every player on the Cavaliers roster and turned to the readers to see what they would do if they were the general manager of the Wine and Gold and – hypothetically, of course – all of the players were up to have their respective contracts renewed.
Same hypothetical this time around: We’re looking to build for the future; all players are restricted free agents, likely requiring a bit of a pay raise from last season. Do you re-sign them? Andrew has already laid out the roadblocks currently facing the Cavaliers in 2011; now it’s your turn. Vote below and leave your support in the comments.
The best part about this exercise is gauging the overall pshyche of the Cleveland fan. Back during the first iteration in 2008, the Cavaliers had just finished a 45-win season and suffered an unfortunate bounce from the playoffs; the fans wanted to keep two (two!) non-LeBron-named players: Daniel Gibson and Delonte West. Even Anderson Varejao had a two-thirds vote to be released.
Now, fresh off of 19 wins, Luke Harangody becomes the ninth player to be kept on the island. Does Semih Erden become the 10th?

2010-11 Statistics (with Cavaliers):

2010-11 Recap: Playing in only four contests for the Cavaliers after coming over in the deadline deal with the Boston Celtics, there is obviously a small sample size for the Turkish seven-footer.
What Erden has going for him is the fact that he is one of two current Cavaliers that is exactly that: seven feet tall. He’s also young at 24-years of age and had several teams inquiring about his services leading up to this past February, and he averaged north of 10 points and seven rebounds with a block-and-a-half per-36 minutes when with the Celtics.
Similar to the last post regarding Luke Harangody, the Cavaliers will be looking to address the center position within the coming months which could potentially leave Erden on the outside looking in. But what say ye, Cavs fans – do you want to see what the youngster can do when given more than four games with the Wine and Gold?

I’d rather give him a shot than Hollins. And 4 games isn’t enough to determine if he can play.
I know it’s a small sample size, but that eFG% and TS% is just plain awful, especially for a center! If the Cavs are able to pick up a center in the draft, i have no problem with letting Erden go.
Well, since we’re keeping most of a terrible team, why not? Keep him…(tho I don’t even know who he is)
This guy can be really good someday, keep him.
3 words can answer this question. Can’t Teach Height.
12th man on the team might as well be able to ‘talk Turk’ with Enes.
Guys really should not be cut loose before we learn how to pronounce their first name. Coach can’t give a proper goodbye without that. “Sorry, we’re letting you go, See- … uh, S’may? Sammah?”
Nobody that made me LOL.
If the explanation for folks around here supporting so many of the players on our current roster is that we want another season at the bottom of the league for draft purposes, then I’m on board with that.
