Indians Recall Jeanmar Gomez, Shelley Duncan Heading To Triple-A

Following last night’s 6-5 loss to the Orioles, the Indians optioned Shelley Duncan to Triple-A Columbus in order to make room on the 25-man roster for the right handed pitching Jeanmar Gomez, according to a statement released by the Indians today.
 
Gomez is scheduled to make the start today in Baltimore, rocking the number 58.  This will be Jeanmar’s 2nd stint with the Tribe this season, after going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 18.1 inning’s pitched from April 19th through May 5th.  While down in Columbus, Gomez has gone 9-3 with a 2.40 ERA in 92.2 innings of work.  Over his last four starts, he’s gone 3-1 with an ERA of 1.98.
 
Shelley Duncan is currently batting .240, has scored 11 runs, and driven  in 20 RBI through 36 games with the Indians this season.  
 
First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 today at Camden Yards.

    He recklessly rounded first base in the first inning, did something to his right knee. Team is calling him day to day with a “contusion,” but I’m not quite sure how one can bruise something in a non-contact manner.
