Week 4: The Browns Will Win If…
September 30, 2011NBA Owners Discuss Hard Cap Alternatives While Regular Season Hangs in the Balance
September 30, 2011Has a sold-out stadium…
Ever felt so empty?
80-82 seemed a long shot then.
And here too, I guess:
But we don’t love baseball just for numbers, do we? For me, it’s always been more about the moments that happen along the way. The moments we remember.
And there were moments.
Great ones.
And slowly, we started to believe…
That he wouldn’t have to carry us.
Because someone else was learning to lead.
Or because the doubters can be wrong.
Or because giving up on people is dangerous.
We remembered that staying up late can be worth it.
And that next year finally comes.
And that you can always come home again.
Sure, not everything went perfect.
But there was also reason for hope.
New answers to old questions.
And reason to smile in spite of it all.
And even as we crumbled, I felt lucky to have witnessed it at all.
Thanks for a good year. I had more fun than I would have thought possible during an 80-win season.
Only 20 weeks until pitchers and catchers report…

This is very sweet.
Fantastic.
That was awesome!
Wow – great, great job.
Wow, 20 weeks! That’s nothing.
Also, only 86 shopping days until Christmas.
Jon – great post, loved it. You summed it up perfectly: “I had more fun than I would have thought possible during an 80-win season.” It WAS a fun season, regardless of the record, and for once we have more answers than questions heading into next season…
Well done, Sir Jon.
I don’t even really like baseball and you had me hook, line, and sinker. Well done.
Well done it’s easy to look back & be disappointed but in the moment it was unbelievable & fun
great job. that should be a commercial
That was very well done. Agree with Anthony. You should sell that to STO.
Thanks for these memories Jon, I’ll be doing baseball ‘withdrawal’ and still “Waiting For Next Year” like everyone here on the site.
Jon this is absolutely one of your best pieces. A great summary of the season.
Bravo!

It was great following this season with your baseball insight, Jon.
