Browns’ LB Jackson Named AFC Defensive Player of the Month
September 29, 2011Cleveland Browns Film Room: Week 3 Crossing Routes
September 29, 2011It didn’t end that well, but the Tribe finishes the year in second place. They had an unbelievable start to the season. They fought through injuries all year long and gave us a look at a lot of young guys who need to be a part of the future. We got a homecoming by one of the greatest Indians of all time. It spawned #PositiveVibes #RollTribe #Windians #WhatIf and many other Twitter catch-phrases that could be a source of embarrassment because the Indians didn’t get the job done, but I refuse to be embarrassed.
These are the remnants of a team that gave us a reason to believe for the first time in four years. I’m tired of feeling bad about having hopes for my teams because of past failures. Hopeless is no way to go through life. It doesn’t take guts, heart or bravery to be a pessimist. It doesn’t automatically make you smarter either. Even the most hopeful of us knows that every team but one ends their season without a championship. It doesn’t make you stupid for believing or wanting to believe. It makes you a fan.
Even in a loss, most Indians fans were pretty thankful for the season. Though some seemingly thought it was fun to taunt their target audience with “500 Not!” types of sentiments, most of us were thankful for some meaningful baseball and some really memorable moments. So as the Indians were flaming out against Valverde yet again last night, Twitter Tribe fans were putting a bow on the season.
Here are some of the memorable #PositiveVibes moments.

The 9th inning HR by Santana in Arizona will stay with me because it is the loudest HR I have ever heard on TV.
I love just watching the replay of it on mlb.com with the sound turned up because it was so violent.

I miss baseball season already. Baseball feels like a real relationship. If you’re truly into it, you put a lot of time into knowing every aspect of the team. You know the 6th starter, the 5th reliever, the 5th outfielder, and the kid who may get called up in 3 weeks. You pay attention to every at bat and you can follow every player like they were your best friend. You know who can hit a curve and who couldnt touch a 95 mph fastball. It really is a great game, with the only caveat being (for me personally) that you need to be in contention. Being out of contention is like a long, drawn-out root canal. Here’s hoping that 2012 surpasses 2011.
