Braxton Miller: The Night A Star Was Born
October 30, 2011Browns Fumble Their Way to a Loss to 49ers 20-10
October 30, 2011
The Browns are wearing mustaches, approaching today’s game as a business trip, and fresh off a three point win at home over the Seattle Seahawks heading into today’s tilt with the 49ers. Even with all those things pointing to an inevitable Browns win today though, they still most certainly have their hands full. Frank Gore is a load, and Jim Harbaugh has these Niners playing like they think they can beat anybody. I imagine they certainly think they can beat the Browns too for that matter, and according to Vegas they’re supposed too. Underdogs by over a TD (-9) on the West Coast today at 4pm Cleveland time, the Browns offense will have to spring to life big time in order to get this thing done today. And that Browns defense will need to seriously take care of business too.
I’m starting said defense in my fantasy game today too by the way, and for some reason have a real positive feeling about this one.
Anyways, for more on what the Browns need to do specifically to win today’s game, here is the link to BWWI posted on Friday over at StillWFNY.
Here we go Brownies, here we go.

Less than 60 yards of offense. What do they work on all week?
@ The Other Tim: You said it brother. We pay to watch this abysmal load of garbage each week. Just wait until our stadium is 50% full towards the end of the season ugh.
@50…. i’ll bet they don’t. Our reporters never ask difficult questions. It’s “how do you feel about the game” or “What do you think about Hillis’ contract”
never ask anything relevant that could actually answer something for the fans
what’s the over/under on how many times we’ll get into the red zone before garbage time in the late 4th quarter?
Hell, Carmen Policy was better than this
This is simply awful.
17-0, browns will go 3 and out, 49ers get ball back after half and it’ll 24-0 before we know it.
That run defense that only gives up 3.9/carry sure looks stellar today.
Wait isn’t the Cleveland defense #4 overall? Well, until today. Just proves stats don’t always tell the whole story.
McCoy on the shotgun….moving the offense.
Sound familiar? It should, it was how he was doing it last year.
Sorry, 3.9/attempt.
At least there aren’t too many opponents from here on out that we should be (over)confident against. Reality for 2011 has arrived. Here’s hoping Indy, Miami, and the Rams start racking up W’s
@ The Other Tim — Ha, wrong. Remember what Shurmur said, “I’ll see you Wednesday!” They didn’t practice too much. lol what a joke.
I would love to be at the press conference after this game.
Phil Dawson is really an amazing kicker. I don’t want to see him go, but I hope he gets on a good team and has a chance to win…
Say what you want about the defense struggling today, because they have BUT our offense has not given them ANY touchdowns.
A competent NFL team would be going into the half 17-14…17-10?
To have to play shutout defense every game to give you a chance to win is simply unfair.
Wish I could see the whole field. Are any of our receivers running deeper routes?
In anothe era I’d be chanting Se-ne-ca. But looks like no one out there has a grasp of this offense, whatever it is.
Also, Gore is a good back. That’s a guy I’d give some money to.
Phew…Cleveland got it’s field goal!
Dawson is going to set a record for number of 50+ yard field goals in a season, because the Browns rarely get inside the opposing teams’ 35 yard line.
I really want to go play some Battlefield 3 but I promised myself I’d watch every game this year…
our offense’s skill position players for the second half: another team’s practice squad rb, a rook who missed last year, a converted returner who can’t run precise routes and Jordan Norwood.[where is Evan Moore? Could the blocking actually be worse with him in?]
Keep Colt alive. Roll-outs, double reverses, whatever. Just please, no more 3 yard passes into double-teams.
Shurmur….really??
really
3rd and managable…. We throw the ball backwards to a player that was clearly going to get the ball. Wow.
What the HECK was that play call on 3rd and 2? Line Little up in the backfield? Oh geez, I wonder where this play is going to go. What a horrible call. Throw it 5 yards behind the line when you need 2? I’m not sure what coaching manual tells you to do that.
Agreed CBus. I have no clue why you do that. If you hand it off Im cool… but throwing it 5 yards back.. Cmon man…
As I type this Brown gets beat by Crabtree… why is Haden not on him?
Shurmur is the worst NFL coach I have seen in a long long time.
and now challenging that out of bounds call … wha?
Head Coach On the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
I tried telling you all that Shurmur was a joke hire by Holmgren, maybe only hired because they both have the same agent, winkwink…and I was called a conspiracy theorist. Now, do you all believe me? Look at this play calling. It’s atrocious. That third down play to Little is all the evidence I need.
I guess after this game he’ll say “I’ll see you Wednesday” again, because what the hell does he care?
Silver lining= our front 4. They play hard. They deserve more than this.
Colt McCoy = Brady Quinn. Quinn might actually be better from a pure talent standpoint. I’m so sad right now.
Ori- no one is disagreeing with you. I scratched my head when he was hired but gave him a chance. I have already seen enough. Whatever the reason was to hire him was a bad one. I would have preferred a “re-tread” like Jauron as our head coach over this clown.
@ TSR3000: I agree, they are playing their hearts out. So is Obinnaya (whatever); he is running hard.
I wish I lived near Shurmur so I could ask him some questions, man to man.
If we would have challenged we would have won… Crabtree was out around the 48/47 yard line and it was marked at the 44.
HE THREW DOWNFIELD!!
That sack was on miscommunication in the OL/ obonnaya not being able to pass protect… that that I expect him to. Also we needed that TO because shurmer is flipping through the playbook and didnt get the call in… if we dont break the huddle until 14 sec in the play clock how can colt make any reads?
that was gd awful. it was like braxtons throw last night but in double coverage…smh
Bad pick. AWFUL. Colt has regressed so much.
Shurmur…nearly rendered unconscious by two successful long plays…calls a timeout to regroup…49ers get to take a breather…Browns lose momentum…promptly throw an interception.
@Harv
He threw downfield alright….two yards short into double coverage.
If we had any offense I am convinced we could actually be in this game.
This D is playing well right now. If we had a QB who could make presnap reads (something Jake was great at last year) wed be on to something. But geez, it seems like Mack is trying to see blitzes and figure it out instead of Colt. I would agree with Craig that it appears Colt is greatly missing Jake in that department.
@Cbus
You beat me to that one. Your QB just completed three in a row, two for big gains, hmm what next? Oh I know…TIMEOUT. Momentum killed, drive over.
so we do have a slant route for Little. Fail.
WHY DONT WE STAY IN THE GD HURRY UP!!!!
I have been hating on Colt a lot. In his defense, even when he avoids the rush and rolls out it seems no one gets open. Our WRs are not savvy or experienced enough to improvise.
@TSR
Agreed. Like I said before, to make the defense play a must shutout game EVERY GAME in order for your offense to have a chance is ridiculous.
GO FOR IT!!! aghhhhhhhhhh
Why would we come out in that formation on 3rd… spread them out and pass. by taking our 11 O players inside the hashes it plays to the D that already has 8 in the box… and why not go for it… if you miss you dont lose that much field position.
Bobby – no kidding. Christopher has been screamin that all game. In obvious passing downs we still go under center and fake the run. Pointless, fools no one.
They keep trying to get fancy on 3rd and 2… I would even like to see them pound it in there at this point. I mean get the 2 yards, and in that position go for it if you dont. were done 2 TDs and time is not on our side. Bring SOMETHING to the table with this playcalling.
Shurmer is done with this game. Hes not trying to win. HURRY IT UP if you want to come back. doing the same sh** wont do anything.
