12 Days of a Cleveland Christmas: Day 1

For those who may be new to the site in the last 12 months, things get a little interesting around here at Christmas time. As a way to say thank you for reading and supporting WFNY, we like to give things away. You know, things that Cleveland sports fans want. We’ve got a nice looking prize vault this year. Hopefully you will agree and participate.

Here’s how the giveaway works. Every weekday from now until Christmas Eve, we will give away a Cleveland themed prize. To enter, you need only to respond in the comment section in the appropriate manner. The winner each day will be randomly selected and notified by email. (Which means you better make sure that the email address you use to comment here is a legit one.) I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. Some of the prizes (like tickets) haven’t even been printed and mailed to us yet. We’ll do our best with the things we have in hand though. Only one member of a household can enter each day, and only one winner per household during the length of this contest. Just spreading the love around.

Today’s Prize:

We’re giving away a Lake Erie Monsters prize pack. Included is a pair of tickets to any upcoming Monsters game of your choice, and a really nice Monsters hooded sweatshirt. The sweatshirt (already purchased) is an XL. I think they run a tad small, but are very soft and a great looking item.

I recently went to a Monsters game and had a good time. If you’ve never been before, I highly recommend it.

    Lake County Captains, English premier league, Ohio state football/basketball. I also enjoy watching curling when the winter olympics are on.

    NCAAbasketball, Go Bucks! I am going to school in Orange City, Iowa and WFNY is my lifeline connecting me to the teams I just can’t seem to let go. The Buckeyes are the only team I consistantly watch on TV/ESPN replay.

    The next team that I follow is the Los Angeles Kings. Born and raised in Euclid, but live in LA area now.

    I guess I would have to say Michigan football, but I honestly just follow the pro sports as a whole more than anything else (other than the Indians, Browns, and Cavs, specifically). There really isn’t any one specific team or one specific league outside of those 3 that get much more attention than any others.

    I follow The Akron Zips Mens Soccer team. That’s a team and sport. I love that we have a good team in this great city!

    NFL for sure. 3 fantasy leagues keeps you interested.

    I do love the MLB though. Is there anything better than taking a day off to sit in the sun and have a couple beers while watching a noon o’clock game?

    OSU Football (regular home game tailgates)
    Blue Jackets (6 game pack “season ticket” holder! Woo Woo)
    Columbus Clippers (who doesn’t love a local winner!?!)
    MU Redhawks (Hockey & Football)

    That’s an easy one, University of Cincinnati football. My wife’s family is having their christmas get toghetre Jan 1 or I would be in Memphis for the bowl game.

    Ohio State football. Sometimes I feel I follow the Bucks more closely than I do the other three.

    Cleveland State basketball. They continue to have good teams with Gary Waters at the helm.

    The Buckeyes: Collegiate athletics are still fun, even though there has been so much turmoil this year.

    I go to a few lake Erie Monsters games a year and pick out a few favorite players each year, but it’s a little hard to follow a minor league hockey team. For example, my favorite 2 players to watch last year (Ryan Bacashihua and Shawn Belle) are both gone this year.

    I also follow the Chagrin Falls High School football team because my girlfriend went there and they have been deep into the playoffs the last few years.

    Buffalo Sabres. My pops is from Buffalo and passed it on at an early age.

    College basketball. Ohio State of course, but I also follow Akron and Cleveland State.
    I also try to follow the Aeros and go to a few games every summer.
