12 Days of a Cleveland Christmas: Day 4

Congratulations to Joe in Wooster for winning yesterday’s contest and the Tribe prize pack. Strange, no votes for Chisenhall yesterday. A few for Andy Marte though.

In case you’re new to the contest, here’s how it works-

Every weekday from now until Christmas Eve, we will give away a Cleveland themed prize. To enter, you need only to respond in the comment section in the appropriate manner. The winner each day will be randomly selected and notified by email. (Which means you better make sure that the email address you use to comment here is a legit one.) I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. Some of the prizes (like tickets) haven’t even been printed and mailed to us yet. We’ll do our best with the things we have in hand though. Only one member of a household can enter each day, and only one winner per household during the length of this contest. Just spreading the love around.

Today’s Prize-

Today’s winner will get a Cavaliers prize pack, including a copy of Joe Tait: It’s Been a Real Ball by Terry Pluto and Joe Tait. (Thanks to Gray and Company Publishers.) As well as a pair of tickets to an upcoming Cavaliers game.

Worth playing for? Of course!

Today’s question-

(Remember, to correctly enter please restate the question and then answer it.)

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

Comments must be posted by midnight Cleveland time in order to qualify for the drawing. Check back tomorrow at noon for the results. Remember, only one entry is allowed, but you may still comment to add to the discussion.

18 Wins. MVP will be Antawn Jamison for shooting 30% from field but somehow still landing us more assets at the trade deadline. I love you ‘twan but it’s over bro.

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

I believe the Cav’s will improve and finish with the same amount of wins (19) in the shortened season. MVP will be Tristan Thompson, averaging more pts in the paint than any Cav and playing great defense and offensive ball movement to go along with it.

  • WooMike

Cavs will get 20 wins this year. I don’t think anyone on the team really stands out for their overall play, but Kyrie Irving will be the team MVP based on a strong second half and hope for the future.

52 wins and MVP Omri Casspi! (Maybe I’m just too optimistic. I also predicted a 14-2 Browns 2011)

Flashes of brilliance, but only 20 wins. Tristan Thompson has an excellent rookie year, barely edging Irving for the team MVP honors. Omri Casspi finishes a distant 8th.

20 wins. Irving will be MVP.

  • Neil

MVP & Rookie of the Year? We need to remember that this is a team coming off one of the worst seasons in NBA history. Even with the addition of two rookies who have great potential, only two weeks of practice makes a quick start unrealistic. I think there will be glimpses of genius throughout the season, yet a few years away from a realistic shot of making the playoffs in a very difficult Eastern Conference. 22-44, but a great start for Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson give hope for…NextYear.

  • Lyon

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

25 wins – Andy is team MVP as he stays healthy and builds on what he had going for him Offensively early last year.

  • Steven

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

HOPEFULLY, 20 wins. I’m thinking Casspi as our MVP with averages of 17 and 7.

  • Bryan

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

I believe 26 games, finish 26-40. MVP goes to…Christian Eyenga

  • Woods

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

The Cavs will finish with 20 wins and the MVP will be Kyrie Irving.

After 19 wins last year, one more win will qualify as a vast improvement in 16 less games. This will be an interesting year with the compressed schedule of games that requires an ugly travel schedule for the teams. I am guessing that some of the games are going to look like development league games due to fatigue and injuries to the players. I wonder if some teams will approach the season by extending the rotation to 10 players and limiting minutes to around 30 for the starters…

  • gflanker

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

22 wins. Ramon Sessions is your MVP

  • archangel

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

I’m going to be very optimistic here and say that we finish the season at 39 wins and our MVP will be a surprise performance by Tristan Thompson who will at least be mentioned in the talk for Defensive POY. By no means will he win it or even come close, but I think having a healthy Andy back will really allow Tristan to roam the paint and swat shots away (unless he’s guarding a stretch 4, which will probably never happen as he’ll be subbed out for Jamison). Man, its nice to be talking about the Cavs again.

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

I’m going with a big 22 wins. I think that Andy V is going to flop his way to MVP.

  • SummitOmar

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

I will go with 23-43 and the MVP is Irving with the most improved Eyenga. Those two extra inches will be huge.

  • S-Dub

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

I’m hoping the Cavs only win 10 games at most. We need the pick. I don’t care about the MVP of a 10 win team. But, I’m hoping Eyenga is the player who is most improved and is our leading scorer.

  • Steve

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

The Cavaliers will win 27 games this season and the MVP will be Anthony Parker as the team’s leading scorer.

  • Nobody

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

10 wins and Kyrie Irving, though MVP means little on a ten win team…

  • Dan

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

Cavs will win 15 games and Kyrie Irving will be the MVP, which mean top 5 pick in a strong draft class

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

29 wins. Slight improvement with our draft picks, combined with the chaos of the beginning of the season. Maybe we’ll steal some games.

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

    23-43 record, Irving is MVP.

  • Harv 21

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

22 wins with Baron, 16 if he’s released.

Logic says pick the #1 or #4 overall for mvp. The accelerated schedule, rooks hitting the wall plus Kyrie only playing 11 games since high school tells me even a promising start will dissolve into a bleary stagger to the finish. AV is relatively fresh. On a bad team he’ll be the tallest midget.

  • Josh

Last year the Cavaliers finished the season 19-63. This year, with a reduced 66 game schedule, how many wins will the Cavaliers finish with and who will be the team’s MVP?

Cavs will win 23 games (23-43) carried by workaholic (and destined to be traded next offseason) Anderson Varejao.
