What Would it Cost for Matt Flynn if He is Franchised?
January 9, 2012Holmgren on Seattle Radio: Finding a Quarterback is Key (with Audio)
January 9, 2012Though she firmly believes that Colt McCoy can still be the quarterback of the future for the Cleveland Browns, Plain Dealer beat writer Mary Kay Cabot says that she “would not be surprised” if the team’s front office has pegged Texas A&M’s Ryan Tannehill as their next man under center.
Baylor’s Robert Griffin III and Texas A&M’s Ryan Tannehill. Most folks know about Griffin because he won the Heisman and is a human highlight film with speed and athletic ability. But Tannehill is an intriguing prospect, one who would fit the Browns’ West Coast system perfectly. He’s 6-4, 222 pounds with a big arm — good zip and accuracy. He played for former Packers head coach Mike Sherman, who was an assistant under Browns President Mike Holmgren in Green Bay and Seattle. He played in a pro-style offense very similar to what the Browns run.
Presently, Tannehill is 28h on ESPN.com’s “Big Board,” but is the third-ranked quarterback. Lauded for his character and leadership, Tannehill learned under one of Mike Holmgren’s confidants which obviously goes a long way. He also possesses above-average speed for a pocket passer and is praised for his pre-snap reads. Unfortunately, he’s also criticized for post-snap decisions and occasional rough footwork. His name should rise in pre-draft workouts, but is certainly not the sexy name that many Browns fans are coveting at this stage.

I’d be ok with this pick just so we could have camera shots of his soon-to-be wife in the stands.
Yeah, you said it. Wowzers!
Tannehill was tentative, inconsistent and terrible at reading a defense. On the plus, he should know the basic framework of the WCO, and he has a good arm. He is a project QB who should be sat a year to work out all the kinks, but will likely be rushed into a starting role.
No way I would pick him where he will likely be picked (mid to late 1st round).
Just say no to Tannehill 2012.
I think we should take him if for nothing else that fiance would be the nicest piece in town since Chuck Finley got Tawny Kitain got court ordered away.
Agree…he may have siz and arm, but I was never sold, especially with the second half struggles they had all year. Better off drafting Kellen Moore.
I’m with you. No way with one of our 1st rounders. I don’t mind a QB project on the roster but it has to be a 3rd rounder or lower. And given his inexperience at QB, he is a project.
sort of surprised but very happy that the general consensus here seems to be to stay away from Tannehill that high.
All the more reason to trade down, get more O line (Thomas has been our only great 1st rd pick, Why not go back to that well) and pick this guy up late. Keep Colt, build a line and WR corps.
Colt’s wife is hot as well. Hasn’t translated into more wins.
