Move over Scott Van Pelt. Though the bald, bespectacled and oft-hilarious SportsCenter anchor and radio host was slated to emcee the upcoming Greater Cleveland Sports Awards which will take place on February 2 at the Renaissance Hotel, his network colleague Erin Andrews has reportedly taken his place as the host of the night’s festivities as the former will be reporting live from the upcoming Super Bowl.
The annual sports-centric night of local philanthropy has been chronicled around these parts for the past several years. The 2011 edition was hosted by ESPN’s Mike Tirico with Kirk Herbstreit taking the stage one year earlier. The annual event recognizes achievements by a plethora of Cleveland-area professional and amateur teams and athletes and is frequently attended my many local favorites.
This year’s Awards will feature Cavaliers great Austin Carr as he receives the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.
