While We’re Waiting… Consolation Prize, If Twitter Existed Then and Herron’s Draft Stock
January 26, 2012Anderson Varejao, All-Star?
January 26, 2012[Anderson Varejao] brings a toughness here and it’s contagious. It was contagious throughout the entire game, even through our bench. The bench is just as important as the starters, so it feels good to win. […] I wasn’t really focused on my offense. I just wanted to help out my teammates. I only attempted six shots tonight and I have no problem doing that. I get my teammates involved and that’s the most important thing. Hopefully, we can have more games like this and whether I score the ball or not, I’m still happy.
– Cavaliers rookie point guard Kyrie Irving, who shot 1-of-7 in the Cavaliers’ recent win over the New York Knicks, on his teammate Anderson Varjeao. Varejao pulled down 16 rebounds in the win, including a season-high eight offensive boards.

This is why I’m leery of trading Andy. 1st – I’m skeptical we can get equal value for him. 2nd – look at the influence he brings to the team with his style of play. His loss last year was huge and this season is only reenforcing that.
But how old will he be when we are relevant again ?
Completely agree. If he can have this influence on every young player the Cavs have, his impact will be felt long after his skills diminish and isn’t playing at his highest level.
This is how you establish a winning culture. This, and, um… winning. Hopefully we do more of that too.
