Taking part in the non-contact portions of Monday afternoon’s Cavalier practice, rookie point guard Kyrie Irving appears ready to return to the floor for the Wine and Gold. Having missed the last three games with a concussion suffered via the knee of Miami’s Dwyane Wade, Irving took part in several team drills in what was dubbed a “very light practice.”
“He did everything that had to do with non-contact,” said Cavaliers coach Byron Scott on Monday. “Five-on-none stuff, running up and down, three-man weave, shooting drills; he did everything as far as that’s concerned. ”
The team will reevaluate Irving on Tuesday morning where he will then hopefully be deemed able to fully participate in practice leading into Wednesday’s home game against the Indiana Pacers. As of Monday afternoon, the first-overall selection is listed as day-to-day. If Irving cannot go, Ramon Sessions will continue to start at point guard with Daniel Gibson helping provide support.
