February 23, 2012It went pretty well. We definitely accomplished some of the goals that we tried to accomplish as a team. We’re becoming a better defensive team and offensively we’re getting more assists per game. I think this first half of the season went really well. We definitely surprised some people. I’m really proud of that.
– Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, following the team’s loss to the New Orleans Hornets, on how he grades his first half as a rookie. At the All-Star break, Irving is averaging 18.1 points per game, which is the most of any rookie this year. His 5.1 assists per game average is the second most among rookies. He will spend the break with the All-Stars in Orlando, participating in the Rising Stars competition as well as the Skills Challenge.
