Ohio State AD Gene Smith responds to recruiting allegations

From Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith-

“I am disappointed that negative references have been made about our football coaches, and particularly head coach Urban Meyer regarding recruiting. In our league appropriate protocol, if you have concerns, is to share those concerns with your Athletic Director (AD). Then your AD will make the determination on the appropriate communication from that point forward. The ADs in our league are professionals and communicate with each other extremely well. Urban Meyer and his staff have had a compliance conscience since they have arrived.”

    Man, I wish Gene Smith would shut it.  Every time he opens his mouth, controversy just grows and solidifies – thus proving that Mike Holmgren and Randy Lerner are in a complete no-win situation in Ohio.

    I loved it when he said he was disappointed with what the NCAA findings were.  That was a great one.  I’m sure that did a lot for the school.  Guy needs to go.  Oh, and thanks for not holding the bucks out of a bowl this year when we were 6-6!  Good decision on that one.  As far as I was concerned, that was a lose lose situation for us.

    I’m surprised you’re using the internet time at the asylum to make posts on this board.  I’m sure you can put that time to better use.  I believe in you and the imaginary friend sitting next to you who, convincingly, keeps telling you that the Browns are a great organization.

    Urban Meyer contacted recruits who were soft verbals, and if they said they were interested in Ohio State, he continued to talk with them.  Wisconsin, Michigan State, and anyoneelse can cry about unfair recruiting, but there is nothing illegal about it.  Until recruits are signed, anyone is allowed to contact them.

    The Wisconsin coach who used an abused rule last year to recruit Wilson has a complaint????  Wilson could have went back to NC State…..instead Coach (Whiney) Bielema offered a better deal.  Quit crying coach and just play ball.
