The Best Browns Since 1999 – Right Guard

Shaun O’Hara got all his notoriety with the Giants.  The Browns found a diamond in the rough as they signed O’Hara as an undrafted free agent in 2000.  O’Hara started his final 34 games with the Browns before signing a big free agent deal with the Giants.  O’Hara thought he was going to play center for the Giants, which might explain his eagerness to leave as the Browns had him playing guard.  O’Hara is probably one of the biggest mistakes that the Browns let get away.

Floyd Womack is next.  The man they call “Pork Chop”  played in Cleveland from 2009-10 before leaving via free agency.  My memories of him are that he was big, physical and solid, but he wasn’t exactly a youngster entering his 30s as he arrived in Cleveland in 2009.  He started 15 games in 2010 before departing.

Rex Hadnot played for the Browns from 2008-09 and I think I felt the same way about him as I did with Pork Chop.  Didn’t hear his name too much which is alright most of the time for an OG.

Seth McKinney played five years for the Dolphins before being released.  The Browns grabbed him.  He struggled to stay on the field for the Browns in his two years in Cleveland.

Shawn Lauvao is your current starter at RG.  Lauvao has had up and down moments playing 10 games as a rookie and starting all 16 games in his second year.  He has probably gotten better as time has gone along and has a chance to retain his position, although competition should heat up this summer.  I’ll always remember him for showing Brian Cushing why you should always keep your helmet on inside the lines of an NFL field though.

Apropos to nothing at all, I love that the creator of that Cushing video signs off with “I owe no rights to this video.”

Ah, the US public school system.  Huzzah.

HAHA! I noticed that too and was wondering if I did indeed read it wrong.

That clip is fantastic! I learned two things…

    1. Brian Cushing is a moron, and…
    2. Football Helmet > Skull

Who wrote this article? Shaun O’Hara did play center for the Giants, not right guard, every year he was with the team. Including the superbowl in 2008. And he was released before the start of this past season. David Baas was the starting center for this year’s superbowl winning Giants team.
