I’m betting this version of the New York Knicks would prefer to never enter Quicken Loans Arena again. The Knicks lost their 10th straight in The Q as the Cavaliers looked much more focused and determined against a playoff team that had plenty more to lose. Kyrie Irving shook some rust off and finished with 21 points on 6-of-15 shooting, while Manny Harris added 19 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, with a halfcourt heave and bank three with the shot clock winding down to cap his evening. New York was led by Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Novak’s 15 points each as Stoudemire returned from a back injury. Carmelo Anthony was held to 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting. The Cavaliers are now 21-41 and face the Spurs next on Sunday night.

lol at everyone saying it would be a lock we would lose this game
6th seed here we come…
we were 6-6 at the end of last year and it worked out ok, right?
i think karma is the biggest factor in winning lotteries. ‘not tanking’ builds karma. we’ll be good.
The Cavs are not tanking; combination of bad games (some historically bad), lack of leader/PG (KI), and depleted bench due to injuries have slowed us considerably. I think the Cavs win only one more game the rest of the year, finish at 22-44 (twice as many wins as some expected, no?) and hope that Nick Gilbert works his magic again.
Yup. That was me.
karma is not real…math is
Or you could just keep Kyrie out, lose meaningless games.
The Cavs are now a WAS win from dropping to 8th or 9th depending on how the chips fall. Let that sink in…1 win moves us from potential 3 spot to 8th or 9th.
Well done, Cavs!
These wins are so rewarding!
So. Incredibly. Stupid.
Most of the other teams are tanking (read: doing the smart thing). Why should Cleveland be different?
Why is everyone satisfied with mediocrity? They ran a plan to perfection this year, and are going to ruin in it like 1.5 weeks.
Same thing with rooting for meaningless Browns wins. Just can’t stand it. You TANK. You get the 3rd most chances! You almost guarantee yourself Davis, MKG, or Beal! You CHANGE your franchise.
Lunacy.
I can’t get over how frustrated I am with this. Finishing 3 or 4, you have fairly decent odds picking 1-3, otherwise are GUARANTEED a 4, 5, 6. Finishing at 6 or 7, you have a really unlikely shot at the top 3, and pick 6-9. It’s a HUGE difference.
100% agree
28 lotteries have take place.
4 times the pick from the worst team got #1:
14%
the average probability, year by year, since 1985:
22%
—-
even better, since 1994, the worst record has had a 25% shot in the lottery.
since 1994, only two ‘worst teams’ have won lottery with their pick (lebron and howard).
that’s 12% hit rate against 25%.
my math says karma is real.
as stated below: since the lottery went to 25% probability for the ‘worst team’ in 1994 (17 years) ONLY TWICE has the ‘worst team’ pick yielded the #1 pick.
and again, last year the wolves went on an epic tank fest while the cavs went .500 in the last month. we were rewarded.
btw, if you want to shoot for the ‘best slot’ you want to be 5th worst.
2010 wizards
1995 warriors
2002 rockets
2006 raptors
1991 hornets
You’re narrowing to one slot. How about the top 4?
And, sorry, Jim, karma is not real. I won’t posit a real argument (like that it’s magical thinking sillyness, etc.).
Rather, I’ll say this…if karma were real, don’t you think the long-suffering, yet loyal/hard-working/faithful/respectable/respectful Cleveland fans would’ve had something good happen to them by now?
Case rested.
hm,.. ok, that’s pretty compelling.
