Morris Claiborne Reportedly in Cleveland Today

Although nothing is set in stone, many people feel the top 3 picks of the NFL Draft are more or less set with Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Matt Kalil taking the top 3 spots. What happens at #4 with the Cleveland Browns is really going to most likely be the first move that shapes the rest of the first round.

The Browns obviously need help on offense, and potential playmakers such as Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon, and Ryan Tannehill are all options. However, arguably the best player left at #4 could be LSU CB Morris Claiborne. As it turns out, Claiborne is in Cleveland today and is believed to be meeting with the Browns.

Per Jared Tokarz’s twitter account (@NFLDraftInsider):

With rumors of Tampa Bay’s interest in Claiborne heating up at #5, this could be a move to entice trade interest with the Browns at #4, or it could be that the Browns truly do want to take the best player available and give themselves an elite core of players at one position.

TRich or BUST for this guy!

  • Chucky Brown

Im in the Claiborne camp. Lets get elite in one area , and then fill in the other holes as we go

    Claiborne or Trade !

  • floydrubino

If Kalil is gone I hope we take Claiborne or Reiff.

    CLAIBORNE!!!!!!!
    (how could i resist?)

  • Jared in LA

Claiborne is a sick return guy too, right?  So if we drafted him, will he take over Cribbs’ spot eventually, right away, or not at all in his first year?  That would be a helluva combo.

you are thinking either of Patterson in 2010 or the Honey Badger last year for LSU.  Claiborne isn’t in the same class as returner.

Yeah think he would be a pretty solid pick for the Browns.

Gotta take Claiborne. You can get great players at RB and WR later. You can’t draft a stud corner late.

Claiborne is the best option if we stand pat at #4.This draft is deep at RB,WR and OL,fortunately for the Browns. We have 13 picks as it is now.I dont see H&H screwing this draft up.Its no secret this is the most important draft weve had since their return in 1999.GO BROWNS!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually read an article on Deadspin today about the Wonderlic and it’s ability to predict NFL success. There aren’t many studies done, but one found the only real statistically significant predictor is a negative correlation among TEs ands CBs. In other words, the higher they scored, the less successful they were. The theory being that those positions are more instinctual and reactive- or the more heady you are, the worse off you are. So maybe shouldn’t look too far into that.
