Report: Goodell will “drop the hammer” on players involved in bounty scandal
April 24, 2012Reminder: WFNY co-hosting draft party with Two Bucks this Thursday
April 24, 2012This being silly season and all, why not just predict the impossible? NFL.com writer Chad Reuter did just that. Here are the 13 players Reuter thinks the Browns will grab-
1 (4) Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
1 (22) Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
2 (37) Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
3 (67) Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California
4 (100) Ron Brooks, CB, LSU
4 (118) Frank Alexander, DE, Oklahoma
5 (139) Josh Kaddu, OLB, Oregon
5 (160) Trenton Robinson, FS, Michigan State
6 (204) Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Poly
6 (205) Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina
7 (211) Hebron Fangupo, DT, BYU
7 (245) Markus Zusevics, OT, Iowa
7 (247) Brian Stahovich, P, San Diego State
My experience says that anything after about the first 15 picks in the draft is an absolute crap shoot. Good luck Mr. Reuter.

Hebron?
Holy cow, didn’t realize the draft was coming up.
I would love to know everyone’s thoughts on what the Browns should do!
I see the Redskins have the number 2 pick… maybe they would be willing to let us trade up to grab this guy I just heard about, Robert Griffith the Third? He’s really fast… we should get him!
Half those names are fake, right? It’s like you’ve simmed to 2015’s draft on Madden.
Vaughn Hebron? That dude was an awesome RB (on Tecmo Superbowl), but I think he’s over 40 years old now.
while of course he probaby won’t get one maybe 2 of these right, it at least gives you an idea of the type of players projected to still be available in those particular rounds. and i like him going offense with first 4 picks then defense in the 4th round. Frank Alexander would be nice at #118. dude is a beast. same with Ron Brooks, he’s got wheels, but was fortunate to have a great surrounding cast. still 2 solid names that could be available in the 4th round. this where Heckert and his staff get to prove their mettle, lookin forward to seeing who they pick. 13 picks and i believe only 10 spot up for grabs, maybe we’ll use some of the picks to trade up as well.
here’s a short list of the later round (3 and later) guys I like:
Juron Criner
Brandon Brooks
Ron Brooks
Sean Spence
Travis Lewis
Jake Bequette
Nick Foles
Brock Osweiler
Coty Sensabaugh
Omar Bolden
Levy Adcock
Ryan Broyles
Brandon Washington
Justin Bethel
Tyler Nielson
What a joke. No way Fangupo goes 211th. He’s a top 200 pick easy.
Emmit Smith Mock is quite amusing…

Here is what he thinks of our second first round pick:
“Cleveland Browns: None Somethin’ really befuzzle me about the mark draft. It seem like every year, some team in the mark draft have not one, but two pick. How do Roger Goodman not notice that somebody steal these pick!? He lay up the law on the Saint for payin’ their player to chop other guys in half, but he do not crack up on the Brown stealin’ a pick from the poor Atlanta Brave. What do the Atlanta Brave ever do to deserve these? That is why I am not going to mark a player to the Brown. He steal, and stealers never win, and winners never steal. I mention the Saint issue earlier. As a former football player, this really brother me. When I play for the Cowboy, Jerry Jones come into the locker room and say he give us all lots of money if we win the Super Bowl. How is that any difference than what Gregg William say to his player? He want to give money for concussion? Why is that a big deal? I do not even know what concussion mean, but it do not sound too bad like tearin’ an ACC or gettin’ stabbed in the ear with a McDonald bag. “
Browns cannot believe that Zusevics is still there at 245.
Browns cannot believe that Zusevics is still there at 245.
not
LoL he was on the Eagles or Eagle-like roster wasn’t he?
Three seconds after the Commissioner announces the name of the 247th pick, Mel Kiper punches up a 3-minute highlight video on Stahovich.
2 points! He was on their team for one year and also resurfaced on the Broncos a couple years later for a couple seasons.
just because it’s fun, here’s what I would do if the draft went the way he has it:
#4 Richardson
#22 Jonathan Martin
#37 Lavonte David (barely over Bobby Wagner)
#67 Sanu – ??? umm, yeah. I’ll take this one.
#100 Ron Brooks – I agree though Bolden is close 🙂
#118 Marvin Jones – can’t believe the WR value in this draft
#139 Justin Bethel – one of few FS in this draft – also could go Foles or B.Washington
#160 BJ Coleman – QB has all the tools, needs time to develop
#204 Desmond Wynn – OL depth
#205 Ryan Davis – DE flier
#211 Deangelo Tyson – DT flier
#245/247 – not even I am crazy enough to figure out who is still left here
Danny Coale! Okay, I’m a pimp for Virginia Tech players, but he showed impressive totals at the combine, has good hands, runs good routes, and has Welker potential (and yes, I am using the obvious white guy to white guy comparison).
Yeah, I’ll admit it. After the first 3 picks, I have no idea who any of these guys are. He could make up every name and I’d have no clue.
Come on. Zusevics and Stahovich both in the 7th round? This is just ridiculous, and, I might add, a little racially stereotypical – not to mention lazy. I am so sick of the Cleveland bashing. Yeah, okay. We get it. Cleveland is inhabited by Eastern European immigrants. Great joke. Where’s the one about our river that catches on fire?
Sheesh. Unbelievable.
Desmond Wynn? Is he Spergeon Wynn’s love child?
I just like the punter pick. Why the poop would you take a punter with the 247th pick and not go offense or defense? Are you worried that someone else loves him so much that he might not be there in free agency…one of the other teams that passed on him at least 7 times?
Why don’t teams just look at the combine report in the 7th round and say, “let’s take Bob Smith. He’s the biggest, fastest guy left. What position does he play? Who cares?”
[puts on toupee]
[downs ten red bulls.]
HEBRON FANGUPO IS SUPERLATIVE VALUE IN THE SIXTH ROUND!! HES PLAYS WITH HAND IN THE GROUND AND HAS GOOD PENETRATION!! BIG WINGSPAN!! GOOD CHARACTER GUY WITH HIGH MOTOR!!!!!!!!
[takes off toupee.]
No way, I mean no way, Markus Zuzesvics falls past the Rams at 243.
Man these past 2 and a half months of speculation, misinformation, lies and inuendo have just flown by for me. I’m already preparing my mock supplemental draft for August, can’t wait!
agreed on zuz. he’s got devon wylie at the end of the 7th. marvin jones in the 4th.
while stipulating that NO ONE knows what’s going to happen, i still want to suggest this guy is clueless.
id much rather read mgbode’s mock. i -know- he’s researched it.
think you got the wrong end of the stash. This .com guy’s got serious inside juice. Apparently when these guys came for interviews Holms first butchered their names and then told them to deposit his paycheck, clear the cigar ashes and polish his shoes. With Berea reeling Heck went code blue: he sent Holms out of town just before Tannehill arrived and decided to cover the dirt by drafting both euros.
We’ll revisit Sunday to see how close this is.
I believe everyone has missed the comedy gold of this draft. Can you imagine Bernie’s confusion during preseason games if we drafted Trent Richardson and Trenton Robinson?
I thought you were going Tech -> Tech comparison factor
that’s what Al Davis did in every round. RIP Al.
Nice pull!
or I know I haven’t researched enough this year, so I haven’t even put together my customary top150 players for the Browns. ah well.
wait, that’s a toupee?
I don’t know, Rick, there’s something a little poignant about watching the low draftees lay out for their dreams in a meaningless exhibition game while Bernie goofs with Donovan without bothering to read their names correctly. And when that receiver on the bubble runs before he secures tha ball and stares at his feet … wait, when did it become ok to rag on Bernie? I never seem to get the important memos.
I love Criner in 3rd or 4th. Guy is a legit redzone target, big playmaker and is the best route runner in the draft with years of solid play. he would look great starting next to Little. I alos like Nigel Bradham, Danny Trevathan and Mychal Kendricks at LB who are all tough players who would fill in nicely
I go back and forth between Criner, Marvin Jones and Ryan Broyles as the most under-rated WR in this class. Currently, it looks like it is Marvin Jones going up to the 2nd, so he didn’t make the above list. But, just a couple weeks ago it was Criner.
I’d love to grab whichever guy drops, or Broyles in the 4th (look at Landry w/ Broyles and w/o Broyles) if both go in the 2nd.
Cam Johnson is out there to go with Cameron Jordan and Jordan Cameron (if only we played NO!)
There is also a Kourtnei Brown in this draft (DE from Clemson – 6th/7th round guy).
Browns fans are always allowed to rag on Bernie. Noone else is.
One of those things where you can rag on the family, but if anyone else does it’s fisticuffs.
I think Sanu would be great as well. He has everything you want in a WR. He may lack the elite speed but he has great hands and fantastic route running ability. AND he produced every year in the Big East with terrible QBs (he had 3 different freshmen QBs), which shows he can play with Colt haha
…He’s worth it at 37
Make fun of me all you want for having all 13 picks, but here is what my dream scenario would be (without trades)
#4 RB Trent Richardson (no explanation needed; he’s a future Pro Bowler)#22 RT Jonathan Martin (fills the Browns’ biggest need, and he’s the best player available)#37 WR Mohamed Sanu (he’s a starter in the NFL, can do it all, great hands)#67 LB Mychal Kendricks (would be great value here, freak athlete and big hitter)#100 S Brandon Taylor (Perfect fit next to Ward, has everything you want in a Safety)#118 CB Chase Minnifield (who wouldn’t love this? would add depth at the very least)#139 DE Frank Alexander (great motor/production at top program, comparable to Sheard)#160 QB Russell Wilson (if he was 3 inches taller, he would be a first rounder)
#204 LB Danny Trevathan (perfect fit for WLB, good addition to our young Defense)#205 OG Ryan Miller (we need ALL the OL depth!)#211 DT Akiem Hicks (we need depth here)#245 OT Markus Zusevics (the only reason he’s so low is from a torn pec; great value here)
#247 P Brian Stahovich (sure, why not)
Ok, let me here it…
I must say I like your selections. Not sure of Russell Wilson, but he is a good athlete. I like your concentration of aO-line and DB and LB. This may not look sexy overall but could be solid in building a team.
thank you and yes! smart>sexy
May not be how I would do it, particuarly w/r/t the “WR position” (per draft guru speak), but I could definitely live with this. Besides, I have nothing better to offer.
I like what you’ve done here.
I’m not sure Sanu makes it to 37. Hopefully he does, but I see him as very similar to Hakeem Nicks as a prospect who went late 1st.
I have some different favorites, but overall it looks good. Particularly like the first 3 picks.
