Ohio State Lands 4-Star QB Prospect JT Barrett

Urban Meyer has landed yet another highly thought of 4-star recruit. JT Barrett, the 7th ranked QB prospect in the country out of Wichita Falls, Texas, confirmed Wednesday afternoon that he will be a Buckeye, according to Scout.com’s Bill Greene.

Barrett is a QB very much in the mold of Braxton Miller. Though Barrett is smaller than Miller, Barrett seems to fit the mold of what Urban Meyer wants to do with Ohio State’s offense. He is agile enough to keep plays alive with his feet and operate plays in space, but he also has the ability to stand in the pocket and make good throws. The very definition of a dual threat QB.

    We are killing it so far for 2013 recruits!  8 x 4 stars, 1 x 5 star …

This Urban Meyer guy seems to know what he’s doing in the recruiting game, eh?

  • Garry_Owen

    That’s, like, 37 stars!

The thing that I love most about Meyer is his automatic credibility and ability to recruit any player from anywhere.  While Tressel owned Ohio and was able to land the occasional high-end player from another state, Meyer seems to be able to this almost by default.  I wonder how many of these kids even had Ohio State on their radar before Meyer was hired.

    I love this Urban Warfare.

Hopefully Barrett eventually makes it into Meyer’s “Circle of Trust”, eh?  (zing!)

Seriously though, I really like Barrett, could end up a great one.

Don’t mind me…just sour grapes from a Cornhusker fan…I’m just thankful the tOSU didn’t hire away our resident Buckeye at the helm.

    We all are.  Very thankful!

One of my favorite pieces of the Urban signing is that the haters can’t even say…”yeah he can recruit, but can he be successful on the field in a large program”

    How firm thy friendship….

The only thing I don’t like about it is the bucks probably won’t land the kid from Mentor now.  Guess you can’t have it all.

And I’m supposed to care that Percy Harvin punched a coach?

Funny,he comes up wit excuses to quit Florida once da SEC caught up wit his gimmicks. Urban knew he couldn’t recruit da South like Saban,Miles,Spurrier, and Richt…so he runs back home to Big 10 wit SOUTHERN CONNECTIONS. He now can outrecruit other Big 10 coaches and reach areas dey can’t. I can’t hate, job well done OSU. #StillCan’tBeatDaSEC
