Kerry Wood saved 28 games for the Indians in his season and a half with the team. He will be remembered most for his fireball days as a starting pitcher for the Cubs. After 1581 strikeouts in 1379 innings over 14 ML seasons, the righty is reportedly hanging up the cleats.
“Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood will retire on Friday, a source familiar with the situation told ESPNChicago.com’s Bruce Levine. Wood, 34, is 0-2 with a 8.64 ERA and has been battling health issues all season.
