Not Juan Diaz!!??
So he is going to be a 2B? The article says infielder, and he doesn’t look to have much power, and Lindor has SS locked down.
hes gunna be trade bait. our organizational depth at SS/2B is killer with Asdrubal, Kipnis, Lindor, Phelps, Donald, Diaz, Wolters and Washington. Yes some of those will be backups or may never make it, but that is where the organization’s bright spot is. One of them may land us a RH bat at the deadline or maybe a SP next year. My money is on Phelps or Wolters coupled with a young reliever for a Youkilis or El Caballo type guy.
We need some bait (that is expendable)
I was thinking the same thing… Wolters + good relief pitcher prospect (CC Lee maybe?) + a scrub or two = Carlos Lee. I’d take it and love it.
what happened to trying Washington in the OF? I remember that at the end of last season, but I haven’t followed-through to see if we are actually trying him there this year.
Washington was tearing up A ball this year before he got injured. He should be back soon. He’s not a CF since Luigi Rodriguez is looking like the next Kenny Lofton. LeVon doesn’t have the arm for RF so i’d be willing to bet he’s a LF– he has the power potential to profile there too.
Wolters plus anyone is too good for Carlos Lee w/ his contract. When Wolters was drafted, every prospect gutu said he’s a guaranteed starting MLB infielder and the Indians love him. He’s still 3 years away from being considered for an MLB call-up and even then he would be a utility guy until a starting spot opens up.
Washington is an OF, Donald and Phelps aren’t really prospects anymore, and Asdrubal will be out of the picture in a few years. Wolters can play multiple positions and can be a valuable utility guy, but yes, Wolters could be moved but i wouldn’t count on it; he’s a pretty sure thing.
P.S. You’re missing the million dollar baby SS Dorsyss Paulino. Will probably move to 3B but the kid can mash. Hasn’t made his state-side debut yet but yes, the Indians are loaded in the middle infield.
thanks.
