Trent Richardson Would Like to Have Contract in Place by Friday

Trent Richardson, the Alabama running back who was selected third-overall by the Cleveland Browns roughly three weeks ago, would like to have a contract in place prior to the start of minicamps which kick off this Friday.

In an interview with 92.3 The Fan, Richardson compared the last several weeks as a “movie” and a “dream,” neither of which he would like to end any time soon. A three-down, all-purpose back, Richardson is expected to step in and become an offensive weapon which would instantly upgrade a Browns offense that was among the league’s worst in production through 2011.

“I’m blessed and can’t wait to get to Cleveland,” said Richardson. “I’m a blue collar player and I’ve always been a blue collar person and I can’t wait to get to work and be a part of this Cleveland family.”

Pay the man!  Get ‘er done

Why do we refer to these guys as “3-down backs”?  That’s more than a little pessimistic (though maybe appropriately realistic for the Browns).  Personally, I hope that Richardson is a 12- to 13-down back.

Because it won’t take 12-13 players for Richardson to score a TD :)

Takes 3 to get him down?

  • BisonDeleSightings

Must be a lot of penalties.

He was drafted third and will wear 33!  😉

  • mgbode

    I like it.

He’s a 3 down back because he broke the first two tackles.

  • mgbode

better than being drafted 6th and wearing #66

    Serious question?

  • Garry_Owen

    Um, no.

  • TheRobot57

    Lol, just checking.

By saying ‘blue-collar’ twice in one sentence, Richardson successfully pandered to the hearts of suburban Clevelanders who romanticize the idea of being ‘blue-collar’ more than they actually like being ‘blue collar’.
