Carlos Santana Homers in Rehab Game, Expected to Play this Week

Attempting to get back in to game shape after a stint on the seven-day concussion disabled list, Cleveland Indians catcher Carlos Santana went 1-for-4 with a game-tying, two-run home run in the eighth inning of an extra inning win for the Lake County Captains.

Santana, who has reportedly been improving since being hit by a foul ball on May 25, has passed the latest neurological test required by Major League Baseball this past Saturday and doesn’t expect him to need another exam. The Indians, who have lost seven of their last nine games — most of which have been without Santana in the line-up, expect their catcher to be able to play in this week’s series in Detroit against the Tigers.

In 43 games through the 2012 MLB season, Santana is hitting .245 with five home runs and 24 RBI.
