Kent State’s NCAA Tournament Win Sets Record
June 2, 2012Report: Buckeyes TE Jake Stoneburner Arrested
June 2, 2012ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla is up on the WWL’s site today with a look at some of the best potential fits for teams in the NBA Draft in a few weeks. To lead off his article, he shares some insight on how UCONN’s Jeremy Lamb could look in a Cavaliers uniform:
Put Lamb in the backcourt with defending rookie of the year Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers have solved a major problem for the next decade. Lamb’s positional size, scoring ability and high ceiling make him a great fit for a rebuilding franchise.
While Lamb, who is younger than Irving, can certainly improve his strength, the notion that he is a soft player is foolish.
I talked earlier today with my brother Sam about how I’m warming up to the idea of Lamb, and Andrew wrote a lot about it yesterday as well. Fraschilla also theorizes Thomas Robinson being a great fit for Charlotte and MKG being good for Washington, which would also mean Bradley Beal would be available at No. 4. Fraschilla later said Jared Sullinger would be a good fit for Toronto at No. 8.

As I said in another thread, Lamb’s skill set meshes much better w/Kyrie than Beal’s does. Then add to that Lamb’s freakish physical tools? Much better pick for us than Beal…
I love Lamb.
‘Are you just saying that or, do you really love the Lamb’
I love Lamb!
-I would be very happy with Lamb landing here, his size and skills should make him a great player with Kyrie.
Can Jeremy Lamb play defense, or is willing to do so? If not, draft Bradley Beal. If I recall, Byron Scott stated one of the main reasons they drafted Kyrie, and Tristan was because they were willing to play defense. Therefore thanks to Byron Scott, Beal probably has the advantage despite Lamb having more college experience.
Anyone would go well with Kyrie Irving but for me Lamb isn’t the kind of player I take at #4 overall. I take him for a team that has a PG but also a low post presence because I feel Lamb is a complimentary shooting type player. He excelled when he played alongside Kemba Walker when he basically just had to shoot. Like I’ve said repeatedly I’ve seen enough of Daniel Gibson and Anthony Parker to know I don’t care to see a third. This is probably unfair to Lamb as I’m sure he’s a better overall player or at least i would hope so anyways.
With Charlotte seemingly willing to move down from #2 for more assets, i just see MKG in a Cavalier uniform.
But yes, i think Lamb is a better fit at SG than Beal, and i really like Beal. Lamb has NEVER played with a pass-first PG in his career but his skill-set says he would really excel. Run him around screens, those little elbow curls that the Celtics always run for Ray Allen on the wing, he would score at a high clip for the Cavs……and he’s freakishly long.
“Lamb can make brilliant defensive plays with his length and quick feet that can help make him a choice NBA defender. As an on-ball defender he is imposing with his length and lateral quickness. Doesn’t sit in his stance defensively and always move his feet, showing signs of a lack of effort. He is very “swipey” defensively when he gets beat by his man, using his reach to try and make a play on the ball from behind. Has great defensive anticipation and instincts playing passing lanes, picking off lazy passes to go the other way for a quick two points. Doesn’t show up much on the stat side of the defensive end with only 1.3 steals and .7 blocks per 40 minutes, but has a great grasp of that end of the floor at a young age. With his seven-foot wingspan he would make an excellent and imposing inbound defender. Has a natural feel of when to help and rotate on defense in addition to using that length when getting a hand up while contesting shots. When defending off ball, he loves to reach on passing drivers in the lane to help out and try to knock the ball away. Shows great persistence fighting over screens off ball when trailing his man but can get screened out due to a lack of strength. Does a good job defending the pick and roll by fighting over screens and staying on his man, but as the screeners defender needs to do a better job of showing instead of giving the opposition a clear lane like he occasionally does.”TL:DR Yes, he can play some defense.
Taken from Lamb’s draft profile on Swishscout.com. A great site tbh for all things NBA drft.
I wouldn’t take him over Beal, but if MKG and Beal go 2 and 3, then I would consider him strongly over Barnes.
And yr evidence Beal can play D is??
No, Lamb would go BETTER w/Irving because he is true SG ( I think Beal is a combo guard) who is long (unlike Kyrie and Beal) and has better shooting numbers than Beal. I also think he may be more athletic than Beal a d I think pairing Irving with a athletic SG is also key…
If The Cavs take Beal their backcourt would be like Milwaukee’s or Detroit. I don’t want a small backcourt
If Charlotte moves down, then the team they trade with will select MKG. Or Washington will. The point is, MKG will NOT still be on the board at 4.
