This afternoon Chris Grant called retaining Alonzo Gee a top priority. This evening they took the first step in doing so by making a qualifying offer to Gee, which means he is a restricted free agent. He could choose to sign the qualifying offer (not likely) or see what deal he can make for himself with another club, which the Cavaliers could then match and keep the athletic wing.
Gee showed tremendous growth last season, becoming particularly valuable as a scorer off the bench.
