Major League Baseball announced the 2012 All-Stars on Sunday afternoon and the Indians netted two representatives, closer Chris Perez and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera.

Perez is tied for the AL lead in saves with 23 (in 24 tries) and Cabrera is batting .296 with 11 HR and 40 RBI while playing stellar defense at shortstop.
However, it is fairly surprising that Tribe second baseman Jason Kipnis didn’t make the roster, as he’s batting .275 (OPS .786), leads all AL second basemen in stolen bases (19) and RBI (46) and his 11 home runs is second among all AL second basemen (trailing Robinson Cano’s 19).
Even more surprising was that was Kipnis was also snubbed from MLB’s Final Vote in favor of pitchers Jonathan Broxton (Kansas City), Yu Darvish (Texas), Ernesto Frieri (Anaheim Los Angeles), Jason Hammel (Baltimore) and Jake Peavy (Chicago).
