July 15, 2012While We’re Waiting… Rumor Central, Brady Quinn and the ugliest football field ever?
July 16, 2012“It just really alters all the plans we had this summer as far as summer league was concerned with him and Dion getting a chance to jell with Tyler and those guys,” Scott said. “That was Plan A. We didn’t have a Plan B going into this because you just never imagine that happening. Obviously very unfortunate, not only for us but for Kyrie. All the work that he’s put in. He was pretty hurt by it. But he’ll be ready for training camp and hopefully a couple of weeks before training camp where we can get him out there and get him playing with some of the guys anyway before we get started.
“Obviously it’s a blow to us because it was something we really looked forward to, getting these young guys together for an extended period of time so they can kind of jell. All the stuff that we didn’t have a chance to do last year with summer league and before training camp and in September when guys start coming back to town, those were the things we were looking forward to.”
— Byron Scott on the impact of Kyrie Irving’s injury, as reported by The Plain Dealer’s Mary Schmitt Boyer. In the article, Scott also shared his thoughts on Irving’s “stupid” injury, saying that the rookie knew it was a freak accident right when it happened.
The Cavaliers begin summer league action at 8:30 p.m. tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats. The game will be broadcast on NBA TV.

Dear Cleveland athletes,
Stop punching walls. Thank you.
Dear stryker, kno what the eff your talkin bout nxt time u post a comment. He didn’t punch a wall
How did he do it then? Crock o’ sh!&?
Irving isn’t a rookie anymore.
If someone said Irving has to be injured this summer, I’d rather it be in a way that should in no way affect even training camp. I just hope it doesn’t affect his shot or ball-handling (two of his major strengths) long-term.
File this under “things that drive a head coach crazy.”
Comments implying it’s better for Kyrie to his injury out of the way now are just so Cleveland. As if the sports gods have issued a certain number of annual injuries and he’s done for now. As if this precludes him rolling an ankle or worse the first day of camp or the first regular season game.
Obviously, this kind of sucks. But I think it’s being overblown, a bit, b/c it happened during (one of) the slowest sports week of the year.
He’ll be back by training camp, that’s enough, I think.
I really wanted to see that one on one battle with Kobe. The trash talking video was just great. Would have been a cool matchup and great thing to do for charity.

He slammed his fist against a less then padded wall. It was in a HS gym if you remember back to those days the walls weren’t really all that padded. In the end it really doesn’t matter.
The loss of Irving really let alot of air out of my sails that’s for sure as did missing out on Scola and perhaps nothing ever coming of Bynum. That being said it’s one of those learning experiences that hopefully has no long term effect. Varejao broke his wrist and it didn’t go by the books. Anyone who has ever had a surgery on their wrist (me) can tell you there are alot of intricacies in the hand.
