Lewis Neal Decommits from Ohio State: Will Attend LSU

Word came today that DE/LB prospect Lewis Neal has backed out of his verbal commitment to Ohio State, and will be attending LSU-

“For a long time the gray box has been used for positive news, but today that ends as news surfaced a short while ago that DE/OLB Lewis Neal has de-committed from Ohio State.

Neal, from Hunt High School in Wilson, North Carolina, became Ohio State’s 13th commit in the recruiting class of 2013 early last week when he gave his verbal pledge to the Buckeyes following his visit to the Spring Game.

Although he maintained he was firmly committed, Neal had Buckeye fans wondering if he truly was on board with OSU, when he was found tweeting about other schools this past weekend. The doubts of those fans became reality today as Neal opened back up his recruitment on the heels of getting an LSU offer, saying “I don’t know, my scholarship is open he said (Coach Meyer), so I guess I’m not committed anymore, but I still consider them. I just don’t think I was ready yet and took the right amount of time to think on my decision to be honest.”

No word on if Charles Barkley was involved.

I’m confused, didn’t this happen in April?

Osu doesnt need another d lineman in this recruiting class. He knew he would never see the field so he decided to decommitt…Big deal.

Spence, washington, pittman, perry, perkins…..plus next years studs….he knew he was a long shot to see anything until his senior year. Smart move for sure

No biggie. Plenty of other quality players out there who truly WANT to bleed scarlet and gray. Coach Meyer will find them and coach them. This young man misses out on playing for a fantastic fan base, with a tremendous tradition, and the best rivalry in sports. Plenty of kids will gladly take his spot. I wish you all the luck in the world Lewis…. Next.

    Yes, it sure did.

Probably more competition at OSU. He would have really had to compete to see the field at the shoe. Hope to see him in the future.
