According to The Plain Dealer’s Mary Schmitt Boyer, the Cavaliers are one of multiple teams with some level of interest in Minnesota power forward Anthony Tolliver. Tolliver, an unrestricted free agent, is 27 and has been in the league for four years spending time with San Antonio, Portland, and Golden State before Minnesota the last two years.
Count #Cavs among teams with some interest in UFA Anthony Tolliver
— M.S. Boyer/J. Valade (@PDcavsinsider) July 7, 2012
He averaged 4.1 points and 3.0 rebounds, playing in 51 games averaging 17.3 minutes per contest. In 2009-2010, his best season, Tolliver spent most of his time with the Warriors and averaged over 12 points and 7 rebounds a game while shooting 33% from three-point range. At 6’8″ and 240 lbs, Tolliver is about the same build as Antawn Jamison and the Cavs could be trying to grab some of that stretch four ability lost by not having Jamison on the cheap. If he lands in Cleveland, Tolliver would compete for big man minutes with Anderson Varejao, Tristan Thompson, first round pick Tyler Zeller, Samardo Samuels, and undrafted free agent Kevin Jones.
