Trent Richardson to Meet Dr. James Andrews
August 8, 2012NBA Free Agency: Cavaliers Officially Sign CJ Miles
August 8, 2012The rumors flew Sunday night based on the tweets from one person, @G_Conley. The doubts started flying around and it appeared that the original tweeter backed off about an hour later, at least from my point of view, when he stated the following.
Love seeing the power of Twitter. I have no idea about Haden. Heard it from someone, seeing if it’s true . Wasn’t trying to get panties on a bunch. Also, Adam Sandler died.
Apparently whoever @G_Conley had as a source had some good information or some incredibly powerful powers of guessing. Today, Tony Grossi and Will Burge of ESPN Cleveland are reporting that the NFL is reviewing a failed drug test.
One source said that Haden tested positive for the prescription drug Adderall during a routine, off-season test administered in accordance with the NFL’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
So, as the Browns watch their first pick from the draft, Trent Richardson, fly south to get his sore knee checked while simultaneously counting the games missed by Chris Gocong, Scott Fujita and Phil Taylor, they now also potentially could be missing their best corner.
As our own Rick said in response, “That would explain why Drew Rosenhaus was at camp yesterday.”
Indeed.

I really resent my father for making me a Browns fan.
EVERYONE has a prescription. It couldn’t have been that hard for Joe to get one if he really wanted Adderall
I feel ya.
Lerner’s bad joojoo is still around finish this sale ASAP!!!
If he failed it then give him the suspension, he deserves it. No whining, no crying. It just means that Patterson and Skrine need to step up – that’s what pro athletes do.
If he didn’t fail it, then no story, and he will be ready for the opener.
Good teams have depth. Worst case we find out ours early. Best case we find out ours later.
Stay positive. Go Browns.
I am not as familiar with some of the policies that address this, but…i am under the impression that a first offense doesn’t warrant suspension. Am I mistaken?
VINDICATION FOR ME!!!!!
Craig,
I seriously heard it from a friend. I was only wanting to back off because all these random people saying “DUDE! WE NEED A SOURCE!!!” I have NO insight or a “Deep Throat” insider from the Browns. One of my friends had heard something and I posted it to Twitter.
I hope this passes for Joe and the rest of the Browns organization. I do not want my favorite team to keep being the ass of all sports jokes. GO BROWNS, GO CAVS, and… DOLANS SELL THE INDIANS!
Amen.
the reason that people do not believe twitter is because people are willing to post random things that they heard from friends without any real source and get proliferated throughout the internet.
vindication would come if you had a real source you were protecting and this proved you out. you admittedly had no insight other than a friend who apparently had a source (or a friend of a friend of a friend).
well, if true we could be without our 2012, 2011, and 2010 1st round draft pick. and we are trying to build through the draft.
Alex Mack and Joe Thomas should be awfully careful these days.
So Joe Haden is like millions of other young people these days and has ADHD… isn’t that what Adderall is for? Admittedly I know virtually nothing about the drug, but I don’t see the problem with using it… frankly seems like there’s potential for a problem if he doesn’t use it.
It has recreational uses too.
I take Adderall and if I miss a dose, I’m scatter-brained. It’s a strongly controlled substance and I think if he DOESN’T have a script for it he could be in legal trouble as well.
well then be your own person and like who YOU want to like, not who your father picked for you.
You mean…… I can choose?!?!?!/1/1/1/!?//?!?!?11
I still said it first.
I’ve hear marriage is very similar!
True, but I guess the NFL’s beef with it is that it’s a stimulant. So is coffee… are they smelling urine now to see if players have been drinking too much coffee? They could even take Excedrin, the headache medicine! Plenty of caffeine in those pills.
Seriously, if your father started throwing feces at passers-by like a chimpanzee, would you? There’s got to be a line somewhere, JK. DRAW IT!
Clearly any individual who dresses in full on sports uniforms of other sports has attention problems. I’m ashamed you people didn’t see this coming sooner and intervened. You are all complicate in your negligence!
Optimism baby…..optimism.
Haden 4 or less games…….Taylor 100% fresh for second half of season…..Richardson 1-2 games…..
Patterson and Skrine can do it.
Hughes will prove his draft position.
New look Hardesty and healthy Jackson carry first 2 weeks load.
Optimism…
He won’t be suspended for a first offense. A fine at most.
You are correct, no suspension for a first offense.
Well, it seems like his source (whoever it was) was good enough. Whatever happened, he called it.
Even better! Optimism…
So that explains why he has been so attentive and focussed…
To be fair: if I read something on Twitter from a random person with NO affiliation or legitimacy I would have felt the same way as everyone else did that called “bs”, that it was in fact “bs”.
And to have complete vindication by revealing whom I heard it from, how would that solve anything? Does Adam Scheffter (not comparing myself in the slightest to him in anyway shape or form) say “Well the news I have recently heard from Dick Jauron is (insert rest here).” No, he does not. He merely states or tweets “Sources say…”.
This is not a victory lap that I am trying to do. I, like all other Browns fans, is wanting this to pass and not become a bigger issue. I feel the Browns are finally moving in the right direction and hopefully they can keep this momentum going in the right direction.
Given they’re talking about a 4-game suspension, this isn’t a first offense. The first offenses aren’t made public unless the player or someone does it himself.
what is this? ohh…ope…ope time isa..ope time isam? how you say? what is this meaning?
True, but who is talking about a 4 game suspension? The radio? The Twitter? The sources? This story is so early that it is impossible to know much.
And here I was so looking to Joe finally looking the ball all the way into his hands on interceptions … What, too soon?
You are joking right?
Ah, that explains it. If I played football on Adderall I’d probably be lock-down as well.
that was my point. you cannot have vindication because you started off with no real knowledge only a rumor you had heard.
honestly, it’s more of a societal thing now where rumors are easier to spread like wildfire even if they have no backing (this one looks like it did even if you didn’t really know for sure).
from this reply, it sounds like you understand that though. and, we are all just cheering for the Browns to finally get something positive going.
Go Browns (and let’s hope this is the last player we lose this preseason).
On par with the scene in Dumb and Dumber when Lloyd is reading the word “the”… “Ta, TEE, Taha…”
if Haden isn’t smart enough to get prescriptions or other things he takes from GNC checked off by the NFL before he takes them then he deserves the suspension. let’s see what happens.
I have seen in a documentary where it is used as a “party” drug. Apparently if it is ingested through the nose it has “speedy” properties that reduce the effects of alcohol. People say you can use it and drink all night long without feeling overly, uncontrollably drunk.
I can see how that could be dangerous. If alcohol isn’t having an impact, then it could be very easy to put yourself at risk for alcohol poisoning.
Adderall isn’t equivalent to caffeine. It’s a type of amphetamine.
“Stay positive. Go Browns”
Meanwhile, somewhere Larry Dolan is beating his head against a wall.
How would anyone “deserve” a suspension for the off-season use of Adderall. That seems ridiculously harsh to me.
I’ve defended the Indians to the point that I am considered loony. He may be banging his head against the wall, but it’s not from a lack of support from me…
He deserves it if he broke an NFL substance rule. It’s pretty clear to me. Play the game, know the rules.
The mere fact that a rule exists doesn’t necessarily make it equitable or just. Which, in this case, it is not.
That’s fine. Not arguing that. But if he broke the rule, he deserves the consequences.
?? it’s an amphetamine. those are drugs that can be used as PEDs in order to workout harder, longer than your body would normally be able to do. which is why it made it onto the banned list.
Fair enough. As long as there is some consistency. I find it mind-boggling how many people jump ship on the Indians at the first sign of mediocrity, but can stay irrationally positive about the Browns and their continued ineptness.
I hear you….but I also agree with “to each their own”….
To be a fan of Cleveland sports is challenging enough. I’ll never question or criticize a fellow Cleveland fan to where they direct their passion. I’m just glad they have it, and welcome them aboard.
Hey! I was at that same par… I mean watched that documentary :-).
In all seriousness it was widely abused by peers in my college days both as a party drug and for concentration come final/midterm times. Abuse of prescription drugs (especially Xanax and Adderall) is a major issue
Unfortunately, whether wrong or right it is a condition of employment in a privately run organization.
One time, I called heads on a coin toss and it came up. It was crazy.
