ESPN Cleveland: NFL reviewing Joe Haden failed drug test

August 8, 2012The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially signed guard/forward C.J. Miles to a contract. Per league and team policy, terms of the contract were not announced, but it is speculated that said contract is a two-year deal that will fit well into the team’s ongoing desire of financial flexibility.
“C.J. brings solid NBA experience to the team, yet is still just entering his prime at 25,” said General Manager Chris Grant. “His ability to play multiple positions adds depth and flexibility to our roster.”
Miles, 25, averaged 9.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20.5 minutes per game in 56 games (14 starts) for the Utah Jazz last season. He scored a season-high 27 points on 10-16 (.625) shooting in 27 minutes off the bench against Houston on Feb. 29th and has a career high of 40 points, which he scored on Mar. 16th, 2011 against Minnesota.
The 6-foot-6, 222-pound Miles was drafted out of Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas by the Jazz with the fourth pick of the second round (34th overall pick) of the 2005 NBA Draft and has played all seven seasons of his NBA career with Utah. He has career averages of 8.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 19.3 minutes in 389 games (159 starts).

Great move. He will have so many opportunities to score – which he does very well – with Waiters and Irving on the floor.
ok, so our potential 2-deep:
PG: Irving, Pargo
SG: Waiters, Miles
SF: Gee*, Casspi
PF: TT, Samuels
C: AV, Zeller
The rest: Gibson, Walton, Harangody, Azubuike, Leuer, K.Jones
*assuming we re-sign him still
can Miles play SF?
he can and likely will (just how often is the question). he’s a better shooter than Gee, so it’s possible the Cavs will want to swap out Gee/Miles from what I have above.
i like the depth, now we just need the starters to round into form (and stay healthy).
I think it is entirely possible if not probable that Leuer is in the two-deep over Samardo…
I think it’ll depend on matchups and styles we want. Samardo for when we want a big banger underneath, the winner of Leuer/K.Jones for when we need a shooter.
That would seem logical but the fact that th Cavs brought in 2 PF candidates this off-season…well, it isn’t a stretch (4! See what I did there??) to see Leuer be ahead of Samardo. Hell, depending on how Jones plays, Samardo might not make the team…
not out of the realm, but that would leave us a bit lacking in post strength. samardo also has the advantage that he can be the 3rd PF or C if that ends up being his role.
(how about we keep Leuer, K.Jones and Samuels and cut Harangody – why Grant? why did you bring back the Harangody?)
