Will there be a tailgating crackdown in Cleveland?

Twitter is abuzz with pics of signs that have reportedly been put up in the Muni Lot in downtown Cleveland recently. Cleveland Kate (@ClvlndK8) has the photo and will be checking it out for herself later in the day.1

As you can see, the sign calls out laws regarding open container, consumption of alcohol (period,) and public intoxication. Makes me wonder if this is a precursor to cracking down on the party culture in the Muni Lot or simply a liability play by the city to make sure that anyone who finds themselves in alcohol-related trouble isn’t able to sue the city for tacitly enabling alcoholic behavior.

We’ll obviously find out soon enough, maybe even tomorrow as Browns fans “get ready” for the Philadelphia Eagles tomorrow night. Is this a “wink wink” type of a sign or is it for real?

These kind of signs were up last year too.. at least the open container ones were. There’s never an issue if you simply use a solo cup and don’t get too out of control.. and I doubt there will be a strict crack-down either.

But now who will tackle the 8-year-old Jets fans?!?!

Looks like a few bad apples are going to ruin it for everyone….

they used to have the same types of signs at state park campgrounds (I know, state vs city) but they were definitely the wink wink variety. Basically, as long as you were using the solo cup, not broadcasting anything and not making an idiot of yourself, then all was good. But, if someone is being an arse, then they can fall back on these ordinances to boot them or fine them.

How long will that last before someone rips it down. They will have to post a guard on it.
