The season is almost over. The season is almost over.
Cord Phelps had a two-run homer, his first long ball of the season. Carlos Santana and Russ Canzler each had two hits. The bullpen didn’t allow a run in 4.2 innings. Those are the positives from tonight at Progressive Field, where the Indians lost their 90th game of the season. That’s the most losses in the American League and fourth-most in baseball.
The loss was Ubaldo Jimenez’s 17th of the season. Yikes. The last two pitchers in franchise history with that many losses? Neal Heaton in 1985 and Jim Perry in 1961. The Indians remain in last place.
