September 8, 2012Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer reported Friday night that third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall could rejoin the big league Indians when the Aeros wrap up their postseason in the next week (possibly as soon as tonight). Manager Manny Acta said he wouldn’t play every day if brought up:
“We have to make a decision if we’re going to bring him here or continue to play him at Lake County,” said Acta. “The fact is, he’s not going to come here and play every day right off the bat. There’s a very good chance we might add him on this trip.”
Acta did indicate that he’s ready to play and the broken bone he suffered in his wrist is healed. But the Tribe skipper said they would bring him along slow — probably a good idea considering what’s on the line for the Indians in the final month of the season. He’ll then move on to winter ball after the limited time in September.
Chisenhall was hitting .278/.297/.458 in 24 games before taking a Troy Patton pitch off the wrist at the end of June.
