The Cleveland Cavaliers reduced their NBA roster down to the NBA maximum of 15 today three days ahead of opening night. The team released forward Kevin Jones, center Micheal Eric, and guard D’Aundray Brown this afternoon. The moves mean that point guard Jeremy Pargo and forward Luke Harangody snagged the final two opening night roster spots.
Jones was signed as an undrafted free agent following his four years at West Virginia. The 6’6″ a power forward has a knack for rebounding but lacks NBA length. He had signed a three-year deal with Cleveland with only a very small portion of it guaranteed. Eric played for the team’s summer league squad and was an undrafted camp invitee out of Temple. Brown, a 6’4″ guard undrafted out of Cleveland State, was just signed on Thursday.
The Cavaliers opening night roster will likely be the following:
Guards (5): Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Daniel Gibson, Donald Sloan, Jeremy Pargo
Forwards (8): C.J. Miles, Tristan Thompson, Alonzo Gee, Jon Leuer, Omri Casspi, Samardo Samuels, Luke Walton, Luke Harangody
Centers (2): Anderson Varejao, Tyler Zeller
