What Can We Expect From The Cavaliers This Season?
October 27, 2012Browns Add Sanford To Active Roster, Fujita To IR
October 27, 2012The Cleveland Cavaliers reduced their NBA roster down to the NBA maximum of 15 today three days ahead of opening night. The team released forward Kevin Jones, center Micheal Eric, and guard D’Aundray Brown this afternoon. The moves mean that point guard Jeremy Pargo and forward Luke Harangody snagged the final two opening night roster spots.
Jones was signed as an undrafted free agent following his four years at West Virginia. The 6’6″ a power forward has a knack for rebounding but lacks NBA length. He had signed a three-year deal with Cleveland with only a very small portion of it guaranteed. Eric played for the team’s summer league squad and was an undrafted camp invitee out of Temple. Brown, a 6’4″ guard undrafted out of Cleveland State, was just signed on Thursday.
The Cavaliers opening night roster will likely be the following:
Guards (5): Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Daniel Gibson, Donald Sloan, Jeremy Pargo
Forwards (8): C.J. Miles, Tristan Thompson, Alonzo Gee, Jon Leuer, Omri Casspi, Samardo Samuels, Luke Walton, Luke Harangody
Centers (2): Anderson Varejao, Tyler Zeller

Hopefully Chris Grant told these three to immediately sign with the Canton Charge, especially Micheal Eric. The center position looks a little thin on tall guys. Even more so if Grant decides to listen to public opinion, and trade Varejao to some other team.
Also, I wonder if there is a special clause within D’Aundray’s contract that states that he will get additional funds from the Cavs if he signs a contract with the Charge within 48 to 72 hours of being waived. Because other than that, I can’t see why Grant would sign a player, only to released him a few days later.
Cavs get first rights to refusal on signing Brown to the Charge. Thats basically why he was signed and cut two days later. Besides, I don’t think any other team would be lining up to sign the kid. No worries. He and Eric will surely be playing in Canton. As for Jones, I’m not so sure about him. Considering our depth at the PF spot, he may choose to explore his options.
Andy will only be traded if the trade comes with a potential lottery pick coming back. Or a very good young player.
Needed guards for last few days of practice because of injuries/ Kyrie’s teeth
Excited that Leuer made it. I’m sure he will hardly play, but I’m a fan.
