AP Poll: Ohio State up to No. 7, Ohio University cracks top 25
October 15, 2012That Sure Was Fun, Wasn’t It?
October 15, 2012Who caught your eye? Did someone stand out? Who blew it? That’s what were interested in this morning. Winners and losers.
Woo hoo! It had some ugly on it, but when you haven’t won in almost a year, you take any kind of win you can get.
Today’s Winners and Losers piece should be much more upbeat than previous weeks. Should be. We’ll see…
WINNER: Josh Gordon. Only three catches, but he made the most of them, including a 71 yard touchdown reception. For the season he has 12 catches for 274 yards and 3 TDs. He leads the team in receiving yards, yards per reception and touchdown catches. His emergence is huge.
WINNER: Montario Hardesty. Good game. Let’s not get carried away though.
LOSER: T.J. Ward. It seemed like Ward was out of position a couple times, especially on the Gresham score. It might not have been a horrible game, but given the circumstances of the weekend, Ward’s performance will be under a microscope.
WINNER: Mitchell Schwartz. Why Schwartz? Because you didn’t really notice him yesterday. That’s exactly what you want from your right tackle.
Alright. Your turn. Who were your winners and losers?

Finally someone finds a reason for Marecic to be in the winner column. Love it. Can we just cut this bum already?
While Usama Young certainly has underwhelmed with his play, I have definately noticed he’s playing with alot more intensity this season as opposed to last. Maybe not starting material, but he’s definately worth keeping around.
I did. It says, “Scrappy posession receiver. Not the fastest guy on the field, but has great hands. Not afraid to go across the middle. Very intelligent player whose style is reminiscent of Dante Lavelli, Elroy “Crazy Legs” Hirsch, Steve Largent, Brian Brennan, Don Beebe, Ricky Proehl, Tom Waddle, Brandon Stokley, Wes Welker, Jordy Nelson, Eric Decker, Dane Sanzenbacher, and Brian Hartline.”
LMFAO
I tweeted the classic subterfuge idea during the game. Can it be that someone read my tweet? I only have four followers, although 25% of them are Carlton Mitchell.
You almost have a squad!
Sorry. I’ve never in my life been on Twitter. I’ll let you have the Intellectual Property rights, though. You were first in line.
and how exactly did scrappy become a term for both white possession WR and under-sized white PF?
Scrappy Doo was decidedly brown afterall.

hey, Gocong was the heart and soul of our defense. for one goalline stand against Mendenhall and the Steelers last year (now that memory brings a smile).
yeah, I think the calvacade of pathetic QBs that our defense got to face helped a bit in terms of their “success” last season
Wait! That’s code for “white”???? Why, I am appalled! Appalled, sir!
add those with beating Luck, RGIII, and Romeo/Daboll/Quinn/Hillis and that’s a wrap 🙂
That can be fixed with experience. He will learn that when the dline isnt rushing, they will be looking to swat, so he needs to adjust o that. I wouldn’t be too concerned.
Run blocking was pretty putrid, though, especially for Richardson.
are you being facetious? Colt was only benched by Harrison last year. He did throw a couple long ones to Cribbs (that worked despite being ugly).
I prefer pigmentally challenged!
WINNER: Brad Smelley. Probably will start once Holmgren is canned.
LOSER: Holmgren. Have a happy firing. You could’ve left from a happy retirement but apparently that didn’t satisfy you enough.
WINNER: Us. Looks like we finally made it… to a win.
LOSER: The Shurmurnator. The 4 yard out on 3rd & 17 shows that first downs are never a priority on this squad.
WINNER: John Greco. Solid performance while Pinkston was sick.
LOSER: Alex Mack. That penalty…
WINNER: Joe Haden. Aside from tripping early on Green’s TD, had a great game.
LOSER: Marvin Lewis. How do you end up with the other team’s scouting report and not use it to your advantage?
WINNER: Sheldon Brown. Showed he still has some gas left in the tank.
LOSER: GERG Little. Virtually nonexistent against an overrated Leon Hall.
WINNER: Josh Cribbs. Showed up when we needed him.
LOSER: Rey Maulaluga. Trent was pretty impressive with around 7 YPC on the day.
WINNER: Montario Hardesty. He’s back, folks.
LOSER: Owen Marecic. See: Brad Smelley.
WINNER: Billy Winn. Has a bright future with the team.
LOSER: Scott Fujita. Feel bad for what he’s going through with the neck injury.
WINNER: Randy Lerner. I really question whether he knew what he was getting into, like he was way in over his head. Hmm… sound familiar?
LOSER: TJ Ward. Very suspect in coverage.
WINNER: Jim Brown. Maybe he’ll come to games now…?
LOSER: Jacksonville. Will probably drop to last in the Power Rankings after this week.
@mgbode Sorry to be clear, it was one of the many nails in the coffin for Colt despite the blatant lies from the organization to the contrary about Colt being the guy while wheeling/dealing to score the RGIII pick and then drafting Bweeden in the first round. (Both of which were the right call)
blatant lies? cmon, every organization says it supports it’s coach, QB, etc. until they have a replacement in hand. the fact that the media forced them to answer the question was enough of an indictment itself.
they would have kept Colt if no better option was available. I had thought that happened when they missed out on RGIII. I readily admit I was wrong (as Weeden now is better than anything we had seen out of Colt).
