In his press conference today from Berea, Browns President Mike Holmgren thanked the Lerner family for the opportunity, and when asked directly, commented that he had not been offered a credible position by Jimmy Haslam or Joe Banner.
“Quite honestly it hasn’t been talked about.”
He also said he understood why not.
Holmgren said his biggest disappointment was that “they didn’t win more games.” The fans echo that sentiment.
He offered a glowing endorsement of Tom Heckert and (in my opinion) a slightly less glowing endorsement of Pat Shurmur-
“Jimmy knows what I feel about them. I don’t think you can get a better general manager than Tom Heckert. Pat is a bright young coach who had to go through some stuff that you normally don’t have to. I believe in him.”
