Brandon Weeden, Rookies maul McCoy’s sputtering squad
October 15, 2012Browns’ Mike Holmgren a no-show in Chicago for NFL owners meetings
October 16, 2012This weekend the Cleveland Browns were without Scott Fujita, and now we are hearing some grim news about the prospects of seeing him on the field ever again.
Fujita has a neck injury that could be career-ending, and he may never play another game, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports.
That news comes as a major surprise. Fujita missed Sunday’s game against the Bengals with what the team called a shoulder injury, but he had played in four straight games before that, and there have been no previous reports that Fujita’s career could be in jeopardy.
Some Browns fans have had harsh words for Fujita as his career wanes. Personally, I’ve been irritated that Browns fans have had to deal with his actions as a member of the Saints and their alleged bounty program. Regardless, any player who steps on an NFL field deserves at least a bit of respect for the danger they put themselves in to play a game – yes for personal gain – but also to entertain the masses.
It is a much nicer story for guys to get to go out on their own terms, and it seems as if that might not be the case for Scott Fujita.

I feel bad for any player that is forced into retirement early (yes even the possibility of Ray Ray retiring off of his injury).
But, I feel good that the Browns get to see how their young Linebackers can do over the rest of this season. Fujita might land himself a cushy desk job as a part of player health and safety though… seriously.
I am not a big Fujita fan (ironically moreso now after his handling of the “bountygate” witchhunt that Goodell ran) but still I’d prefer he was able to leave football on his own terms rather than forced out by injury. I hope he can remain active with the NFLPA because I think he has served very well as a player rep but either way I wish him luck in whatever role he takes going forward.
As for Ray Lewis (referenced by another poster), that murderer can straight up burn.
