Nick Swisher giving serious consideration to 4-year $52mm offer from Indians….preferred LAD,LAA,NYY because of wife acting but not avail

The Tribe made their pitch to the former Ohio State outfielder on Tuesday and Swisher visited other teams throughout the rest of the week. If you weren’t aware, Swisher is married to actress JoAnna Garcia, most recently of Animal Practice and Royal Pains (full IMDB: here). Last season with the Yankees, Swisher batted .272 (OPS .837) with 24 home runs, 36 doubles and 93 RBI.

All I want for Xmas is swish and a starting pitcher
Can someone explain to me why the dbacks signed cody ross?
But Swisher did pitch in the MLB before. Chances are his pitching ability is probably better than anyone else the Indians would sign!
Let me preface this by saying I don’t think they’ll do this, but….
A Cody Ross/Jason Kubel platoon would be re-gosh-darn-diculous (tmesis!!) for the price. Using them against opposite handed pitchers would basically give you a .900 OPS right fielder for about $14 million, or $3 million less than Matt Holiday makes for reasonably similar production.
The rub, of course, is that neither Kubel nor Ross agreed to participate in a platoon. And that’s not likely something you want to spring on a veteran player during spring training.
Again, I don’t like the deal. But the platoon idea is remotely interesting.
Hopefully we land Swish, and I think the Indians idea of adding a SP is most likely someone similar to Kazmir, who we signed to a minor-league deal. Saunders would look good in our rotation though.
“Serious consideration”
Last time I heard those words was when my ex-girlfriend was deciding to come back to me.
interesting. and the players only recourse would be to complain to Kirk Gibson, which is a frightening proposition.
i think they are hoping to trade some OF though
