NBA News: Cavs recall rookie Kevin Jones from Canton

The Cleveland Cavaliers have recalled forward Kevin Jones from the Canton Charge.

Jones has appeared in five games for the Charge this season, averaging 23.6 points (third in the league), 12.6 rebounds (third in the league) and 1.4 steals in 41.0 minutes (fourth in the league). He has four double-doubles on the season.

An undrafted rookie out of West Virginia, Jones was signed to a three-year, partially guaranteed contract before being released by the team. Following his play in Canton, the team decided to sign him, waiving Luke Harnagody to clear roster space.

This should have happened much sooner.

What’s the rush? He has zero professional experience, and has only played in 5 D-League games his entire career. It takes time to adjust to the NBA level, so it’s better he plays for the Charge and starts and gets more minutes, than sitting at the end of the bench for the Cavs, where he will barely get any playing time learning the ins and outs of Byron Scott’s system. We all know how tough Scott is on rookies. Ask Jon Leuer.

All I’m saying is that he should’ve been on the bench for the games we’ve already played, not Luke Harangody
