NBA News: Dion Waiters doesn’t travel with Cavs, tweets “minor setback”

Cleveland Cavaliers rookie shooting guard Dion Waiters did not travel with the team for their impending contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reminaing in Cleveland for treatment on his sprained left ankle, the fourth-overall pick tweeted that had a “minor setback,” but will have a “major return.”

The injury occurred one week ago in the team’s double-overtime loss to the Portland Trailblazers when Waiters came down on the foot of fellow rookie Tyler Zeller. Waiters left the arena following Wednesday’s loss to the Chicago Bulls in a walking boot, but the team stated that this was simply to immobilize the ankle.

Waiters is averaging 15.2 points, 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game on the season. The Cavaliers have lost the two games which they have played without him, both by ten points, starting two different players in his place.

Teammate and backcourt partner Kyrie Irving remains two weeks away while he recovers from a fractured index finger.

Without Kyrie and Dion active, there is virtually no point in playing or watching these games. Unless…Kevin Jones, you are our only hope now.
